Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
We rock thee freely, as men strive for Right;
We rock thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
We rock thee with a passion put to use
In our old griefs, and with our childhoods' faith.
We rock thee with a beat we seemed to lose
With our lost picks, --- we rock thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all our lives! --- and, if God choose,
