2nd Wind Sports	Oct 5, 2008 7:59 AM Okay, for those of you who have been patiently waiting, the details are now being finalized!! (thanks to Jim and the CGKA) 2nd Wind Sports Presents : The 2008 Pray4Snow Movie Premiere/Party When : Oct 18, starting after dusk Details : Hood River Sandbar/Kitebeach- We'll have 8-10 20m2 kites pumped and tied together to form a huge-ass awning tent where we will be premiering some of this year's latest ski/snow/backcountry flicks on an oversized movie screen(Thanks Bam). Liquid Force, DC Snow and Rossignol will be providing their LARGE demo tents for extra coverage in case of rain (we're runnin' this show come rain or shine, dammit!). Weather : We are seriously going to run this even if it rains a downpour. Bring a rainjacket or some stiff beverages. The fire will be burning and the tents will be dialed. Dress for a campfire party in the outdoors. We live in the NW, dress accordingly and you'll be happy. Fire : Permission is still needed from the Fire Dept, but we should be able to have a decent fire available for semi-environment sacrifices to ULLR the norse snow god. Food and Bevvies : Since we are not able to obtain a liquor or food services license, we are recommending that individuals be prepared to provide their own food/bevvies. The Slider Project may possibly work on a solution for this. Playtime : Outdoor movies, big-ass kite tents and snow. DC Snow will be working on trucking in some snow if we can pull it off, so we might even pull off some sliding. Did I forget to mention the Liquid Force "GRINCH"! Yup, it'll be there as well. Donations : We will be asking for a mandatory donation of $3/person - Since the NW Avalanche Center has received some drastic financial cut backs this year, we want to dedicate all proceeds from this event directly to the NWAC so that we can all count on having our local avalanche and weather forecast services available when we need them. Hollyholly low	Apr 7, 2008 5:47 AM so im in maui woth no wind!! lame! but i am gettin certified to teach kiteboarding so yeah im supper stoked!!! anyways they tell me that i need to start flying bow kites! i dont know about that im still not that convinced on them, they have no power! i flew a 15m nash kite today and it had no balls... i guess i need to learn how to fly the bow kite, but it feels soo different, what do you think about the whole bow kite deal?

By night, Arla Funk stays grounded, dressed in a black button-down shirt, reciting the details of the daily specials at Wahso. But by day, she takes flight, riding the wind on a snowboard, sometimes 30 or 40 feet above ground, holding onto a giant kite. Once only occasionally viewed by drivers along U. S. 40, the snowkiter, one part astronaut, one part ski bum, is no longer the rare bird it once was, Funk says. While kiting over the ocean near South Padre Island, Texas, she reports meeting several Parkites sailing beside her. Take any night of the week, and you'll find at least five Wahso staffers who would consider themselves avid kiters, on water and snow, says Funk. "Snow kiting is becoming huge absolutely huge because you can take it anywhere," she says. "It's just a fun, full-throttle sport.
