Thank you for the research and tolls you provide for the world. My daughter had some of my blood taken and it is being sent off for genetic testing. Then if I am positive...my daughter can be tested. A piece of mind is the last thing I give her before I leave...soon.

I hope more & more people take the time to learn about what Alzheimer's really is and does. I know many people think it's just memory loss. Forgetting how to swallow and doing other things is part of memory loss.

My mom just passed away on Monday 4/20/09. It was such a hard and sad time seeing all the things she was going through. I was lucky enough to be with her almost every day for the past 6 mos and blessed to have had a mom for 55 yrs of my life. My mom was 89. She was a strong person physically with a great humorous personality and a strong will to live to the very end. I learned many things in the past 6+ months not only about Alzheimers, but about myself, my mother, and those around me.
More people need to be educated. Knowing makes a big difference and can help with all the questions a person may have. I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I did.

Candlelight Vigil Monday March 23 at the Lincoln Memorial Public Policy Forum Washinton, DC
I just want to add that as part of the Candlelight Vigil, Loretta Hagen will be performing "Sundown Till Dawn" the title track from her CD that tells her Mom and families story.
We have also lit a candle for Loretta's Mom Vera Tutini and you can go to

I have attached her bio, and I hope that all of you can join us for this moving and inspiring vigil.
Loretta Hagen

The title song from Loretta Hagen''s latest CD , "Sundown Till Dawn", is her most personal recording to date. After her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease six years ago, Loretta and her family became her caregivers, taking turns staying in their mom's home round the clock and dealing with the heartbreaking challenges that come with such a terrible disease. It has been an emotional roller coaster for her family and Loretta's song paints a clear picture of how her mom has suffered, describing a typical day in her life.
The song, Sundown Till Dawn, will be included on a soundtrack in a film by Backlight Productions due to be released in Spring of 2010 called "Ten Mountains, Ten Years", about a group of mountain climbers called The Regulars http://www.theregulars.org who are climbing ten mountains in ten years to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Loretta's hopes are that her song will help raise awareness and funds for research for a cure for the disease.

Since the early nineties, Loretta Hagen has been earning rave reviews for her rich vocals and poignant songwriting. With a style that blends country, rock, folk, and blues, she has shared the stage with national acts of each genre, such as Richie H

I just lost my Dad to Alzheimer's last week. He was only 65 yrs old. It has been a sad and difficult road these last few years. More than ever we need to raise awareness about this dreadful disease and find a cure. It didn't save my Dad but it can one day save others from going through what we and our families are going through today.

Hello All, My mom has been living with Dementia since about 2001. She is holding pretty well with the meds. My Uncle, her youngest sibling, was diagnosed with Early Onset Dementia last year, 2008. Too early to tell yet how the meds will work for him. Thanks to the Alzheimer's Association Web site for all the info.
