What Are Your Top 10 Ideas for Change in America?
The Ideas for Change in America competition was created in response to Barack Obama's call for increased citizen involvement in government. The final round of voting began on January 5.
The top 10 rated ideas from the final round will be presented to the Obama administration on January 16th at an event at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. At that event they will also announce the launch of a national advocacy campaign behind each of the top 10 ideas in collaboration with nonprofit partners to turn each idea into an actual policy.

Protest Italian right-wing mis-use of Indigenous peoples
It has come to our attention that the right-wing/fascist forces in Italy have come out with an anti-immigrant campaign, making use of (without permission) of an image of indigenous peoples/american indian/first nations/aboriginal person by misusing the analogy of what happened to native peoples with european settlement in the Americas.
While it is true that the indigenous peoples of the Americas were negatively impacted by the European colonization, it was not because they were "foreigners", it was because they came to subjagate us who had welcomed them initially with open arms. We identify with all those oppressed by colonialism/imperialism; and a major reason for immigration to Europe and North America is because the capitalist-imperialist powers (EU, US. et. al) have exploited and oppressed both the peoples and the countries of the third world. Those who immigrate to Europe and North America simply are trying to survive; a basic universal human right, and should not be attacked for it, but should be allied with, to end capitalist-imperialist oppression.
Yes to Indigenous Sovereignty, Yes to Immigrant Rights
No Human Being Is Illegal; To end poverty, end capitalist-imperialist oppression.

We've now had 5 years of
lies
about 9/11, WMD's, and freedom. The
real reasons
were
oil
,
profiteering
, and
fascism
. Not just
Bush
, but the
news media
, most of
congress
, and all who remain
silent
. And now they'll use fear to
quash dissent
. It's
nothing new
-- it's been going on for
ages
. War, poverty, ecocide,
arrogant bullying
--they're all from greed and fear, which come from ignorance. ♥ But it's not too late -- we can still
learn
to make
peace
. Talk with people. Love, Eric

NACLA and the NYC Friends of the MST invite you to...
A REPORT BACK ON THE FIFTH NATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE MST
with special guest JUAN REARDON, former FMST National Coordinator
Wednesday, November 14, 2007 from 7-9pm at CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Ave, New York, NY (Room 5414)
We will take this opportunity to hear from Juan who participated in the Landless Workers Movement 5th National Congress in Summer 2007. He will share with us the analysis and outcomes discussed by the over 17,500 MST delegates at the weeklong Congress, including plans for future MST work and their demands for a new Agrarian Reform Model that includes the expropriation of lands held by multinational agribusiness corporations.
Now is an urgent moment for MST supporters to come together and figure out ways to continue to support the work of the MST on the ground. FMST-NY will be hosting an MST activist in December of this year, and plans are already underway for an important series of events. Join us as we work to solidify the NYC chapter and plan our next steps.
For more information and to RSVP, please contact [ jr.agroecologia@gmail.com ] or [ (831) 239-1922 ].
