"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)

Promotional Video(My Girl From The South Sea Isles)

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff

G'Day, Rick!

Mike Sanford and I had a great time pickin' with you guys last night!  I've thought about having a weekly "Bristow Bash" jam session, and I wanted to see how you folks in Cushing handle your "Tuesday Night Music Club".  It was fun!  We have a brand new community theater in Bristow (The Freeland Center) that seats about 750 people; I'd love to build-up to a family-oriented monthly show there featuring area entertainers like yourself.  Mike Sanford is involved with most of the setups at the Center.  Their last act was the "Redhead Express" from Branson.

At your convenience, could you provide me with basic contact info on you guys? My cell and business email is on the card I gave you last night.

Thanks, again, for your invitation to play last night!

Pickin' when I can,
Thinkin' 'bout it when I can't,

Greetings, Rick!

Thanks for checking in.  I read your recent column in "Show & Tell" and got a big kick out of your writing style.  I thought to myself...if Rick plays as well as he writes, he might be beyond my pay-grade!  Ha.

I'd love to join you and your "picker" friends some Tuesday night in Cushing.  I'm a Taylor guy with way too many acoustics and electric models.  I was raised on country; expanded into R&R and R&B; and I love playing and singing it all!  Let me know if it's alright for me to join you guys in the music fun next Tuesday night.

I'm confirmed you as a friend, so please do check-out my page on myspace.

Pickin' when I can,

Bob Callaway

Not only did your comments warm my heart to the peak of explosion, (as well as the fact that you're in Oklahoma, where I spent many a summer in Spencer, visiting family an' playing in red dirt), but your music is just gorgeous... Wow. So happy to read an' listen to you. Chicken pot pie it is, (I. Love. Truly.), an' please, continue your taste for the sins, (cheese, vinegar). You love what you love. I hug you through this screen, dear friend...

Rick!

It was great to meet you! I really appreciate the compliments on my guitar playing. That was very nice of you.

You've got some good stuff on your player. I especially like the vocals on "The Things We Left Behind." They flow so playfully, yet the song is so sad.

Hopalong Cassidy and Root Beer Willie was talkin' about you last night and said you're smellin' pretty ripe. Maybe that's why everyone abandoned you and took up pokin' needles in beaver carcasses as a hobby.
