From: LoLo Date: Oct 31, 2007 4:12 PM Hey everyone, if you have bands / singers / whoever on your Myspace profile friends list, please consider telling them about something we've been looking at the last couple of days (and have now started to see a gradual spread of via a number of bulletins floating around). In a nutshell, hackers are specifically targetting band / singer profiles, stealing their login information then overlaying the profile with a huge fake background. If you click anywhere on the profile, you'll be taken to a bunch of places via a Chinese website. You might get spyware, you might get a fake media codec (more spyware), or you might find yourself on a password stealing page. The destination keeps changing so its hard to pin the attack down. In the past few days, I've seen roughly 7 or 8 band profiles hacked, and another one came to light earlier today courtesy of another bulletin sent out. You can read about this here. I left some of the Go Girls Fest L.A. postcards at KLOS 95.5 FM radio lobby for you and around town where I've been hanging. This weekend I left some at the LA Femme Film Festival which is a women produced festival for everyone at the Fine Arts Center in Beverly Hills (it's casual and cool). I'll try to make it Oct. 20th - schedule permitting! Sounds like a great lineup.
