A Z-Line (from everything I have ever heard of) is a line within a muscle indicating the end of a sarcomere (the basic functional unit of a muscle). Each end of the sarcomere has a Z-Line and when a muscle contracts the Actin and Myosin slide across eachother bringing the two Z-Lines closer together (causing muscle contraction). I am not sure if you know this but I figured you'd be the best for me to ask, what is a Z-Line? I know it has something to do with the esophagus, but what exactly is it? The reason I ask is because I (apparently) have an irregular one...
