Hello my friend, it's been a long time since I've sent you anything.
I thought of those who have given their life as the ultimate sacrifice,
when I received this poem from a friend.
My continued prayers for our troops & God bless.
THE FINAL INSPECTION
The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
'Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you ?
Have you always turned the other cheek ?
To My Church have you been true?'
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got
just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.<b

Thanks for extending the hand of friendship, through this site.
I like the idea that this is the 'land of the free' and that people should be able to voice their opinions on what they think is wrong or right pertaining to pretty much anything.
I wrote this for a friend who lost a son in Iraq. This poem if for her and for anyone else who understands the message it holds.
Thanks so much for adding me to this site as a friend.

The protest tonight is probably going to be the most controversial one yet. Honestly we didn't know we were going to do this untill an hour ago- all at the meeting agreed we should do something diffrent.

Indigenous Peoples Message to the U.S. antiwar movement
We call on the U.S. antiwar movement to acknowledge that the very establishment of the United States and it's expansion was built on the genocide against the First Nations/Indigenous Peoples of the continent, along with the enslavement of African peoples & exploitation of peoples from around the globe.
Iraq (and the over 130 countries that have a presence of U.S. military) is just a continuation of "Manifest Destiny" which cleared the continent for settler colonization. Thus it's not a "mistake" of U.S. policy, but is at the core of the very foundation of the U.S. from it's beginnings continuing thru to today.
Thus, we say that the antiwar mobilizations that are taking place in March/April 2008
1)have an indigenous person opening the events ackowledging the above history and it's continuation into the present day and how U.S. history is linked to today's war(s).
2)that there be an organized and visible collective presence of contingents focused on indigenous peoples concerns at the mobilizations along with that presence being also on the websites, press releases, media spokespeople, et. al of these groups/mobilizations.
3)that the indigenous names of cities/towns in the various indigenous languages be acknowledged by also being mentioned to remind people of the indigenous origins of this land (for example "Manatay" for what is now called Manhattan ) along with the peoples (for example: Lenape (& others)) and the original languages.

The people speak: Truth about war won’t come from Petraeus
I thought the insurgency was slowly being weakened in 2005. When I arrived in Iraq in January 2006, I realized I was wrong.
It was far worse than I could have imagined. My first intelligence briefing informed me that we didn’t even know who was on our side. It came to my attention that most Iraqi police stations in Baghdad had been infiltrated by sectarian militias, and we couldn’t trust the majority of Iraqi soldiers or policemen.
I realized our enemies were using far more sophisticated IED’s, explosively formed penetrators, which our armor had no chance against. I learned that we weren’t even there to engage our enemies, but driving around waiting to get blown up.
Most of us who have close encounters with death, never even saw our enemy. The rules of engagement have nothing to do with the number of our casualties. You can’t fight what you can’t see. This had not been reported on the news. As it turned out, the media had not been exaggerating the violence, but downplaying it.
The people in this country should be forced to see the faces of the men and women who have died in this unnecessary war of choice, especially those who vote Republican.
The American people need to know the truth, and they’re not going to hear it from Gen. Petraeus. I’m getting tired of hearing politicians and political pundits talking about this war like it’s a damn football game.
There is no such thing as winning or losing in war. One should only fight a war as a means of self-defense and as last resort, and once it becomes apparent that it’s no longer necessary, it should be ended. All this talk about surrendering is ridiculous. Our presence is what is fueling this insurgency.
It is a matter of common sense, but soldiers are afraid to tell the truth.

Yeah, we're still pretty new also, only a couple months old. But we're pretty active. It is important to do a lot of networking in the local activist community.
