Let me tell you my story about Drew Glackin.
We saw The Silos with Drew Glackin three times before their last show in Germany in december 2006 and I did never talk to Drew. Until that night. It was a special "Americana" night in Dortmund and there were three bands announced: Tandy, The Silos and Luba Dvorak. When we arrived at the club a guy was sitting behind the merch table right across the room and he smiled friendly at us. Well, I thought that this guy could be Drew but why should he smile at us - I knew him from three other shows before and I thought he couldn't know me.
We went to the bar, grabbed a beer and went to a bar table to drink our beer. At that time I really recognized Drew and he kept smiling at us. He came across our bar table a few times (it was right between the merch table and the backstage area) and just nodded his head but as soon as my wife went to the restrooms he came to me and said "It's great to meet you here" - how can that be?!? I saw him play a few times in a couple of years and he recognized me?!? Anyway, we had a nice talk and he introduced me to Tandy's stuff. We went into the stage room, when Drew surprisingly entered the stage. Well, Drew played mini guitar, bass and did some backing vocals and he and Konrad Meissner accompanied Tandy.
During the break I went to the restrooms and while passing water Drew came out of one of the toilets and joked "Hey dude, you can't hide from me!"
He then played a nice set with The Silos and again accompanied the last artist that night, Luba Dvorak for the last show of that evening. And he was great! He enjoyed the show so much that he took the lead vocals for the last song!! I never heard Drew sing the lead vocals before but the atmosphere, the fun of the musicians and Drew's astonishing voice gave shivers to my bones.
Just about ten days ago I sent him an e-mail asking about any plans of touring Germany again. Seems I will get no re
