So, BIG news... The U.P. compilation album has been released... finally! The new title is 'Listen U.P.' I heard you met Josie, our graphic designer? She texted me that night 'I met Katie Marie!!' - She was totally starstruck. She designed the CD - it looks awesome! You'll see, we'll be sending every artist a copy within the next couple of weeks. I've been meaning to call you and yo poppa about the release, but I am starting to learn my way around MySpace (previously a loyal facebooker) and figured I'd drop you a line. We've been promoting previews of the tracks on local radio stations - and as you know, we featured Share My Air during the kick-off of that campaign. OH, AND!! Congratulations! You're one of only 2 artists that have more than 1 song on the album... and the other artist is - ME. Both submissions, Share My Air and Reach for Me are included on the CD. And that certainly wasn't due to a lack of submissions, your tracks were just too good... nothing but positive responses from listeners. So, bravo! Which reminds me, even though we already featured Share My Air on the radio, we want to get an on-air interview from you with Sunny101.9. Any Tuesday in the next 2 months... it'd be really cool if we could get you to come to MQT for a live radio performance (I can learn to play Share My Air, and we could quickly rehearse an acoustic rendition the day-of)... if that's not, at least feature Reach for Me and maybe get you to answer some questions via telephone interview? We did that a couple weeks ago with another artist... it worked great. I'll get in touch with you or your dad sometime next week to see if we can set something up... . (Maybe we could get PJ Olssen to accompany you for a daytrip to MQT for a jam-packed day of radio promos?!) That'd would be awesome.

Yo, cuz!...

Really enjoying your CD. I often play it at my desk while I pay my bills; It makes me feel better when I'm writing checks for obscene amounts of money for my gas bill...

I'm doing quite well: I've got about 20 gigs lined up for summer. I'm playing on Mackinac Island, too, which is a pretty big deal since they hire some of the best musicians from the tri-state area, and often career musicians at that, so I'm honored to be asked to be of that crowd (but kinda scared about it, too, at the same time!...). I'm comfortably busy, and I'll probably have to start TURNING DOWN gigs soon. There's lots of ups and downs with doing music professionally, and I'm definitely on an "up" lately.

OK, today is the anniversary of the passing of my mom, so in tribute to her crazy ass self, I'm putting up the song from my new album, "Broke Wide Open" that is about her, and even offering it for free download, but just for a few days, so come snatch it up. Be sure to read the blog, there's a great story in there and trust me, "you should have known her". In tribute to Phyllis WILK, the woman who saved my life........... Plastic Surgery. Nip and Tuck. One of my heroes, Michael Jackson. So what is it about "time" that we're so uncomfortable with? All the answers come with time, "respect your elders" is a mad truth! I would be honored if you would "take the time" to listen to "Bye Bye" and read todays blog entry about my grandmother, a most amazing woman. If you also check "Treat You Like My Own", that picture is me with my Grandmother, shortly after my adoption. A slice of my life, that song..... my blood all over it. Love to hear your thoughts and thanks for spending some "time" with me and a couple of songs. Hear all of 'em if you have another 10 minutes, or so. ;)
