Despite there being a ban on commercial whaling, Right now the Japanese whaling fleet are in the southern ocean whale sanctuary, where they plan on slaughtering 935 minke and 50 endangered fin whales, Goverments of the world are not doing enough if anything to stop this, I urge people to boycott Japan and please sign petitions and write to Japanese embassies around the world to put pressure on the Japanese Govt, as well as your own govt. Whaling is totally unnecessary, barbaric and cruel, whaling needs to end today!!

Click here to find your nearest Japanese embassy

Please click to sign the petition to end whaling

Recently, the Northern Territory government announced plans to kill 3000 camels by means of aerial shooting in the township of Docker River.
Thirsty and in search of water, the camels converged on the community of Docker River. Instead of assisting the community by building barriers to keep the camels out of the township and investing in long term solutions such as research into birth control or the construction of a manmade waterhole for the camels to drink from, the government are planning to herd the animals away from the town, shoot them and leave their bodies to rot.

Despite the outrage of thousands of concerned people from around the world, the Northern Territory government has given the green light for the cull to go ahead and thousands of scared camels are now being annihilated by marksmen from helicopters.

Please click here to voice your opposition to the cull.

World Vegan Bake Sale you say? Whatever could that be - besides the most awesome thing ever?!

I loved the latest podcast on the down industry, and about three nights later, I was watching Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe, where he was working at a down factory. Its appalling. Thank you for always being so honest and explanatory. I hope to keep listening to your podcasts for years to come.

David Franks: Walkabout…

Apr 4, 2009 8:25 PM

(Hi - enjoyed my visit.
)

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

Poem cum song 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog):
WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN

Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.

I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.

I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen.
"

Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.

That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Hello,

As a Handle with Care friend we were hoping you could help us spread the word about the cruel live export trade to your contacts. We feel that you have a large network of friends which may not have heard about the cruelty involved with this issue.

As you know every year 4 million sheep are exported to the Middle East from Australia to face an inhumane death.
This is set to continue throughout 2009, but you can help by:

- Adding us to your top friends so people can see our profile image and click through to find out more.

Or

- By adding a comment in your status to forward people to our page.
For example this could be; “(your name) would like everyone to find out about the cruel live export trade and take action! Go to, www.myspace.com/handlewithcare_org and join their network”

I can't believe the dude with the Garlic Trout got first place ahead of you! His video was so boring and he was so quiet and look as if he was reading off of cue cards!
You were upbeat, funny and explained everything clearly and concisely without mumbling.

At least you get to be on that cooking show still, congratulations!!

Ps. Made the soup again.. overdid the spices a little but it was still quite delicious.
(i get a little crazy with the Garlic and Red pepper seasonings)
