The battle with McDonald’s, Starbucks, Nabisco, Kellogg’s and Heinz Ketchup has only just begun.
Hamsicle does thank you, indeed. As does Control Group (a Hamsicle subsidiary).
thanks for the add!! great music :)
As for the myspace add, it's true, I read your bio and felt an insatiable urge to give you a hard time. Sorry, that just happens every now and then--too much free time on my hands I guess, but I really do think that 'Feeling Good' track is catchy. Concerning the Chomsky comment, yes, I was just being a dick (I had a few beers to facilitate that), but you have to admit it was pretty funny. Bringing the misspelling of douche to your attention at the end, that was like a double whammy douchebag move, way below the belt, but I just couldn't resist. I can assure you, had I not checked on some words before writing my comment, there would have more than one spelling error. It just seemed like the perfect asshole ending to a ridiculously overthought comment.
But I did have good intentions even if the packaging was bobo. Namely, I think a lot of people (philly leftists in particular) like to regurgitate trendy political ideas without knowing or caring what the f*ck they're talking about. If they are never challenged, they'll continue to go about blindly reinforcing eachother's beliefs without listening to other voices across the ideological spectrum.
Personally, I too oppose racism, homophobia, environmental degradation, and the mistreatment of animals. I also agree that Rick Santorum is a butt nugget, though I'm not sure that's the exact phrase you used.
No, seriously though, you guys either need to hire a public relations specialist or relieve whichever bandmate is handling your myspace stats of his duties. I have no problem with the music; in fact, I think the 2nd track is downright catchy, but the whole diehard anticorporate leftist schtick just ain't workin' for ya.
To start, why do you care so much about the moral/political rectitude (or blind marxian conformity) of your audience? Isn't one of the great things about music how it supposedly brings diverse people together? Second, do you really want people who are super-ignorant about the complex dynamics of economics, politics, and human psychology to be politically active? What if I promote some simple-minded, ultra-idealistic peice of leftist legislation which I feel in my ignorant passion would improve society, but which is in fact a totally ineffective and wasteful allocation of government revenues that would actually perpetuate rather than eliminate the problem?
Also, for one so vehemently opposed to people not respecting your opinions, you don't seem so tolerant of others' opinions yourself. Have you ever really listened to someone with different political/ethical views, tried whole heartedly to understand where they're coming from, and factored it into your conception of the world? Perhaps then you could ammend your world view by considering aspects you'd previously neglected and respond fairly and intelligibly to ideological opposition in a sympathetic and persuasive manner.
I know I came off rather harsh, but if you do believe in open dialogue and oppose censorship, you will allow this comment to stand AS IS on your profile page, and perhaps respond to it on my page with some biting words of your own, and I promise I won't delete whatever you write. Nothing personal, just politics...
Oh yeah, and 'douche' is spelled with an 'e' at the end.
