Hey, my MySpace friends, TODAY is the day! Don't miss Xeric winner "Jazz: Cool Birth," in September's Previews order book at comic shops today, under Aazurn Publishing!

Because "Jazz: Cool Birth" is inspired by '50s album cover design, transporting readers into 1957 jazz clubs, we're hearing interest from musicians and music lovers. Since "Jazz" is a murder mystery, mystery readers are also intrigued. Add to that comic book readers that enjoy Xeric grant winning indy books and we expect a rush of orders from September's Previews.

So many readers like you are enjoying Aazurn. com's done-in-one comic book short stories we are encouraged to continue to offer single story books! Thanks for helping us prove comics can be good, adult reading!

I would like to talk to Ditko for a little while, too. With everything we know about most artists, he is so intriguing because of his recluse nature.

On YouTube I subscribed to a channel by a guy who said that every time he has written a letter to Steve Ditko, Ditko has written back to him. Have you ever written to Ditko? :-)

The Undercurrent

Jul 25, 2007 4:10 AM

Dear friend,

The next issue of the Undercurrent will be coming out in mid-September. If you are interested in writing for it, please note that the submissions deadline for first drafts is August 17th. (Early submissions welcome!)

Anyone interested in writing should email the editors at content@the-undercurrent.com. We will have some specific suggestions and guidelines to offer you.

If you want to write but do not have a specific topic in mind, please let us know! We can point you to some news stories and make some article suggestions.

On the other hand, if you already have an article in mind, we encourage you to send us an abstract/outline so that we can give you an early indication whether we're interested in publishing.

Thanks for your interest and support,

Thank you for the add.

Dear friend of Objectivism,

The Undercurrent is now welcoming orders for its upcoming issue. The issue will be mailed out at the end of April, and is intended for distribution from May through September. Orders can be placed at
http://www.the-undercurrent.com/?s=distribute

The issue will feature a penetrating interview on freedom of speech with Onkar Ghate, the Dean of the Objectivist Academic Center. The interview discusses, in depth, the nature and philosophic justification for the right to free speech.

In addition, the issue will include a campus commentary (by Kelly Cadenas) on recent free speech violations, an article arguing that capitalism is not only practical but moral, Peter Schwartz’s excellent ARI op-ed, “In Defense of Income Inequality”, and our regular ad for the Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest. Please visit our
website to preview this content.

Remember, distributing the Undercurrent is not a major time commitment. All you need to do is take a few minutes once or twice a week to drop off the paper at a campus newsstand or coffee shop. If cost is an issue, let us know and we will work with you to find a sponsor in your area to pay for your copies.

Because May is exam period at most schools, it is a time when students are spending more time on campus, studying, meeting professors, waiting before and after exams. For this reason, it is a time when they are more likely than ever to pick up and peruse a paper like the Undercurrent. Please help us maximize this opportunity.

Please help us bring Ayn Rand’s ideas to your campus and community,

-The Undercurrent

P.S.

The Undercurrent would appreciate your help promoting its upcoming issue. We respect your time, so thanks in advance just for this message. If you are so inclined, p

Lately I've been listening to The DIM Hypothesis lectures on the Web. Awesome!!!

I found it interesting when Dr. Peikoff said that porn can't be classified as art because it's made for purposes other than esthetic.

That got me thinking: I'm taking it that he's talking about hardcore porn. How would one classify softcore stuff on Showtime like "Red Shoe Diaries"? It seems to me that that *is* partially made for esthetic purposes, so would that be D, I, or M?

I would say "Red Shoe Diaries" is an M1, since it's kind of formulaic. What's your take?

Yes, very 'comic', you've read Ayn Rand? Are you aware that Satanism is just objectivism with ritual and aesthetic to pander to people's emotional needs?
I'm acutally trying to spread Objectivst thought aroud my area, i've been buying copies of 'The virtue of Selfishness' and handing them out to people.
Apart of Nietzsche, Rand makes more sense to me then any other philosopher, though i'm wondering if you've read any professional criticism of her work?

Word up, my fellow student of Objectivism!

I am very much relieved that the screenwriter for Contact is no longer involved in the Atlas Shrugged movie. Too bad I still have to put up with that second-rate Bono/Sally Struthers wannabe, Angelina the Lips.

What's the deal with Leonard Peikoff imploring everyone to vote Democrat? I am not voting for the Democrats in my state, I can tell ya!

Sincerely,
Stu
