To participate in "The First World Festival of the Dignant Rage" Organized by The Zapatista Army of National Liberation. Which will take place in Mexico City, Oventik Chiapas and San Christobal de las Casas, from Dec. 26th 2008 to Jan. 5th 2009.. . .Come and Support this event as we raise funds to pay for food, transportation and travel expences. But most of all come and support the ongoing student movement and its struggle to build a world in which many worlds fit. A global struggle against Neoliberalism, for humanity. . . to the left and below, where our heart beats.

Today June 3rd get out the vote to Defeat Proposition 98. The wealthy landlord’s deceptive scheme to abolish rent control, renter’s rights. June 3d is a very important day for the fate over a million California renters, our environment, and all homeowners and taxpayers. This dangerous scheme needs to be soundly defeated. What’s at stake? These wealthy landlords will make millions at the expense of seniors, single mothers, working families and others across the state. Thus, Tuesday, Proposition 98 – the dangerous landlords’ scheme – needs to be soundly defeated Prop. 98 is a deceptive scheme on the June 3rd ballot that would hurt renters, seniors, our neighborhoods, and our environment.
rent control will be phased out, no more rent control...renters now are given 60 days if the rent is going to be raised if they can't afford it they have to leave....now. landlords only give 3 days..and can raise the rent as high as they want...where as before there was a limit to what the rent can be raised yearly-

Under the Sun Gallery and Arts for Action is hosting
“Una Noche de Otro-Arte” (An Evening of Other Art), a
book reading by Canek Peña-Vargas, editor of the newly
released book The Speed of Dreams,Selected Writings
2001-2007, Subcomandante Insurgente Marcos, and art
exhibition dedicated to raising awareness about the
Zapatista movement in Chiapas, Mexico.
We welcome the public to this educational reception to
learn about the struggles the Indigenous people of
Chiapas are facing and about Zapatista values -- such
as land, housing, health, nutrition, women's rights,
indigenous rights, workers rights, freedom,
democracy, justice, and autonomy. All are invited to
this book reading/art reception to meet Canek
Peña-Vargas and the artists which include Xavier
Montes, Dolores Haro, Emilia Garcia, Edmund Lara,
Eduardo Hinojosa-Espinoza, Adrian Gaspar, Maribel
Hernandez and photographers Rudy Cardona and Arturo
Perez.
The reception will be held during Ventura ’s “First
Fridays” gallery crawl on Friday, June 6 from 6-9pm at

Hello everyone!
We just finished putting Otto Sturckes artwork up in the gallery. It's beautiful work. Stop by to see his paintings soon!! His exhibit will be up until May 24. His opening reception will be held during art walk on Saturday, April 26 from 2-7pm. As always, light refreshments will be served and Xavier Montes will be playing his harp from 3-7pm for all to enjoy!! Business hours are: Closed Mondays, Tues-Fri 3:30PM-6:00PM, Sat 11AM-6PM, Sun 11AM-5PM. Feel free to email or call if you have any questions 805-804-6433.
Also, we'll be hosting a Cinco de Mayo Unity Festival on Saturday May 3rd. It's going to be a great event!! All proceeds will benefit Bell Arts Factory's Aztec dance group Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc and the Brazilian Martial Arts Capoeira group. The event includes performances by Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc, Capoeira, Drumline Revolution, a fashion show and live music performed by various groups in Spanish Rock, Reggae, Hip Hop in addition to DJ's from 103.3 The Vibe. There will be a minimum $10 donation entrance fee. Food and drinks will be available for sale!! Come enjoy the fun!

Join Dreams to be Heard to launch its campaign to strenghten California education policy and make college more affordable and accessible to all Californians by providing financial aid to all students.
Please come and join students as they will discuss the impact of lacking financial aid through monologs, music and informational speeches.
This event is also being sponsored by the Department of Chicano Studies, The Department of Central American Studies, MEChA, CGSA, CCNMA, CA Dream Network, CHIRLA, and the Salsa Music Association at CSUN.
