Of course, in the end it will be the Sox...it can only be the Sox. Maybe you should come hang out in Boston for the next few weeks. Your family would love it; it's beautiful in the fall! ;o) I have to share this with you because it gave me a chuckle, and saddened me at the same time. In fact, I feel sorry for the entire Yankee organization after this. Then again, they ARE selling their souls to the Devil (aka Steinbrenner). Anyway, I hadn't heard his tirade about the poor umpire, so this amused me: "On Saturday, Ian O'Connor of The Bergen Record got him on the phone at the perfect time, and for at least a few minutes, The Boss was back. Steinbrenner said that if the Yankees lost their American League Division series to the Cleveland Indians (they were down 2-0 at the time), Joe Torre, who has only managed his team into postseason 12 out of 12 years, would not be back. He ripped umpire Bruce Froemming for not stopping Friday's game when a swarm of insects invaded Jacobs Field and announced that Froemming would not be doing anymore Yankee games. This came as a surprise, no doubt, to Major League Baseball, which at last glance was not consulting with owners about which umpires could and could not work their team's games. Then he said that he fully expected Alex Rodriguez back even though Rodriguez has the right to opt out of his contract and become a free agent at the end of the season."
