Hail, J.C. (Chris) McGowan!
Halloween is finally here.
A time of handouts and of sweets.
A time of candies, popcorn, apples,
Chocolate, tricks and tasty treats.
The little ones deserve such fun,
and ought to have such bailouts flung
upon their little lives, for nothing more than
being cute and young.
Yet, in America, it seems that
Halloween is much in style,
as CEOs demand their treats
for nothing more than cocky smiles,
for nothing given to the poor,
no contributions to the world,
for parties on expensive yachts
with caviar and tanned call-girls,
for corporate jets and limousines
and palaces and jewelry,
for wasted food and roasted quail,
for drunken, pale tom-foolery.
Thus, Halloween comes once a year
to little ones with little pay,
but for the corporate elite
All Hallows' Eve comes every day.
Wishing you a Happy Halloween, dear friend.
Peace, love, and space-brotherhood,

It clung to silver chrome
like a purple benediction of survival
(the thick, deep clot I removed)
I walked away and it was then I saw
bright red streaks across the floor
(incongruous patterns I had stepped on)
more sterile wipes?
Peeking around the curtain, I saw
a young tech quietly tagging the body

Step right up...
The greatest show on Earth:
Baba Ed's Galactus

Scott Osgood,
J.C. McGowan, and the
Lucid Screamers will
delight us
with their wild poetry
and Pythonesque antics.
Shatner,
high on the yage,

upon to do
something outrageous.
"Britain's Got Talent" star
Susan Boyle will delight
everyone
by belting out showtunes
while everyone notices
only her makeover.
RE-VO and Bela Ray
will perform the new album
"XII" in its entirety,
while the flying
Cosmogaian Elvises
set new Guinness records.
Come one.

Gosh! I hope Americans don’t embrace universal health care. Such sharing… it’s madness!
Here in Canada, we HATE going to a hospital whenever we want, and getting first-rate medical care.
It’s unfair to have sharing forced on us!
Why, it's Leninism, don’t you think?
Pardon me… I have to go… to the doctor… for FREE. Ssshhh... everyone will want some.

Today, we astronauts toast Apollo! [subliminal: actors]
Today also, I note that I am not surprised by this week's confirmation that Dick Cheney had an ninja-like assassination squad to wack people he hated.
After all, Congress made it legal a few years ago.
I am surprised, though, at Dick's recent campaign to change his image....

Hail, J.C. McGowan (Chris)…
Greetings, dear space-brother. I hope that you are well.
About this time of year, many folks (even space-poets) get the Winter blues.
Here are a few suggestions for resisting those blues.
Drink plenty of fluids.
(

)
Sunlight is an excellent source of Vitamin D, a natural stimulant.
(
http://ca. youtube. com/watch?v=LdFTnY5J9eQ&feature=related
)
Engaging in good healthy, transactive debate is a surefire way to keep those neurons firing. Try to keep it light, though.
(
http://ca. youtube. com/watch?v=Ctlmholr45c
)
Be sure to get lots of exercise. If you can get out of town, all the better.
(

)
And remember: listening to excellent music helps to keep the brain active and entertained.

Hail, J.C. (Chris)...
I hope that you are well, my space-bro.
Well, it was bound to happen. The backup singer that we hired earlier this year has attained great stardom on my home planet, RE-VOX. As you’ll recall, he is, indeed, a very skilled singer:
(
http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=8v2fcxCi__w&feature=related
)
Thus, at a critical time (just before our proposed “Christmas in Wasilla” album), the RE-VO band begins a new star-search for charismatic backup vocalists. We’ve decided, this time, that rather than selecting dynamic aliens or hippos, we need to search among a more loyal species:
(
http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=PKOTClyVrIc
)
Here’s a very fine blues singer that we found in Kentucky:
(
http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=FyUZgGlj6d4&feature=related
)
However, I liked this vocalist’s urban sensibility:
(
http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=chrP2MukhIQ&feature=related
)
This candidate showed a keen interest in the 80s repertoire:
(
http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=ghSq0z0IZbI&feature=related
)
Here’s the same singer, performing an a capella solo:
(
http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=AiVDukgHTdc&feature=related
)
I have to say, though, that the most impressive demo was submitted by the following performer. I think that, so far, we are leaning towards this one:

Here in Canada, a coalition of disheartened Opposition leaders joined forces in an attempt to overthrow the corrupt government:

It seems that Harper’s secretive Cheneyesque way of running the country has enraged his colleagues:

)
Prime Minister Harper was decidedly upset about the attempted coup:

In a move that has not occurred since 1926, he dissolved Parliament altogether:

"Greetings, Earthlings!"
Beware, my friends... this greeting must be taken literally. J.C. McGowan is, in fact, from another planet, located deep in the Andromeda Galaxy. No human could possess such an intimate familiarity with the inner machinations of alien thought without actually having visited the cosmos.
He is also a gifted science-fiction writer, with a deep and complex knowledge of the communication technologies (The Channel, Luz Viva) of alien cultures... MERELY COINCIDENCE? I think not.
J.C. McGowan would have us believe that he is a mild-mannered, genius poet and scholar of Brazilian music.... beware, my friends. With literally hundreds of Internet sites, he is preparing for world conquest.
Do something, before it is too late: BUY HIS BOOK, "The Big God Network," and you will see precisely what I am talking about. BUY THE BOOK, NOW... save yourselves!

Well, two weeks later, and I am still recovering from Galactus (still a bit sore from the Elvis parachute jump).
We heard from Manny again... he ended up in Beijing, with a group of Swedish acrobats (the dawg). He says he's on his way home, but I'll believe it when I see him.
You must stop at dreamland11 and check out my new photo archive, RE-VO at FAN EXPO CANADA 2008... there, you will see photos of me promoting the album at exciting Q&A and photo sessions, along with gorgeous Therese DeGrace (star of RE-VO's "Worldview"). We met and schmoozed with sci-fi stars like Kate Mulgrew and Sean Astin, and with legendary spacemen like Buzz Aldrin. There were literally legions of stormtroopers and Jedi Knights. It was amazing, dear sci-fi guru. You would have truly grokked the whole scene.
Please come by and take a look, my friend.
Peace, love, and space-brotherhood,

Hey, J.C.
Thanks for digging "Ode to Manny." In fact, there's a "the" missing from the poem, but I haven't been able to figure out where it goes. I blame the yage.

Peace, love, and space-brotherhood,

Hey, J.C. McGowan Poetry,
Well, Manny stridently argued that he should be given due credit on the MS site, even though he is a hired sideman, the live drummer for the RE-VO touring band (on all recordings, I perform the drums myself)(oh, well... see dreamland11, "Band Members").
Ode to Manny:
"The dude's yaged up," a fan cried out.
The fan was right: our man passed out.
His big head landed on a tom,
which, on the mic, was like a bomb.
Initially, the masses thought
that it was part of something hot:
"Oh, wow! He's playing with his head."
No... he was passing out, instead.
The floor tom tumbled to the stage,
as Manny tumbled, from the yage.
And now he rests in hospital;
his damage is considerable.
His paranoia has increased.
His eerie visions never cease.
Hallucinations by the score.
He says that Bush will bring us peace,
that Rumsfeld is a gentleman,
and Ashcroft was an alien.
(although the last one may be true,
the others show what yage can do!)
A forest glen is more the place
for taking stuff that gets you "faced."
In tranquil settings, with some friends...
yes, this is what I recommend.
The moral is "Don't take stage
when you are all tanked up on yage!"
A wonderful weekend to the American in Rio.
Peace, friendship, and many clicking fingers,
RE-VO
