Reading Fringe Festival

Aug 4, 2009 11:00 AM

Details of more events can be found on www.readingfringefestival.com. They include one off special events from Oxfam Records, Old Orleans and The Global Cafe and Fringe themed versions of the towns host of regular music nights like Bohemian Showcase at Deja Vue and Wicked Boy Promotes at the Face Bar. Look out especially for the Accesible to the Max DJ night at the Global Cafe which is run by COMET, an organization run by and for adults with learning difficulties

Theres only 7 days till the print deadline for the Reading Fringe Festival programmes which will be distributed to the 20,000 early arrivals at the Reading Festival Campsite and also industry and media types staying in the towns hotels with nothing to do until the main festival starts. So, if you are running an event between 21st and 27th August please consider adding it to the the Fringe roster. Together the events will have more impact.

Keep tuned for more.

Kill the Killer

Nov 13, 2008 9:26 AM

Hey guys, the message i sent isn't particulalry clear, you don't have to pay for the tickets straight away.

If you could ask for how many tickets you want (a minimum of 20 please) you have 2 weeks from this friday to sell them and send me the money on that friday.

Then from the profits of the whole gig i'll share out pay which will be ATLEAST £5 per band member providing you sell the tickets, the more you/others sell ofcourse, the more pay you'll get.

So if i could have the number of tickets you want, an address and a name and a number for that name we can crack on.

Safe, Gary.

Club Velocity’s Bandorama. Rising Sun Arts Centre, 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST.
Doors 8pm. £5/£4 with flyer.
Acts:
MATT HEGARTY - Is a genius times a billion. Fact. He should be all over the wireless http://www. myspace. com/matthegartyuk

THE WOOKIES - Our (Club Velocity's) favourite hippy punk band, now based in the centre of the universe that is Reading, having moved from Newbury last week. They sing about Animal hospitals, clouds and bunny rabbits. Come back, it actually works. http://www. myspace. com/thewookiesrock

THE RACE - One of the most successful bands to come out of Reading over the last few years. Signed to Shifty Disco (the label that gave birth to Young Knives), they released their debut album in 2006 and it pricked up the ears of any punter or media heard it. It was a very, very fine debut album. The Race are one of the best examples of such an exciting Reading music scene. They have played many a festival all over Europe-including Reading Festival in 2006. Been championed by the likes of Radio 1/XFM/6 Music and many a fine music publication. This is a very rare one off to see a band of this status in such a small venue. Their second album is ready for release in October 2008. It was was produced by Dave Eringa (Kyle Minogue/Manic Street Preachers) He has taken the band to a new higher level. Sounding like U2 having a fist fight with Arcade Fire. The Race are now a f--king great band! http://www. myspace. com/theraceuk
