Sheffield without a doubt! Not only was it at the forefront of the synthpop scene of the 80's but it has created some of the greatest artists this country has ever seen from various genres of music such as Pulp, The Human League, Arctic Monkeys, Joe Cocker, ABC.

It is also home of the record label Warp Records who over the last 19 years have released some of the greatest and most pioneering music the country has seen!

it was a Geordie (Chas Chandler from The Animals)who brought Jimi over from the states. London doesn't get a claim on that one.
Liverpool is fun if you like The Beatles and Zuton-esque tunes.
Sheffield bands like to sing about Friday nights on the lash (again and again)

The place to be is... MANCHESTER. Look beyond the Manc swagger and Joyless Division wannabes and there is a whole host of eclectic, exciting, ORIGINAL music playing in almost every bar in town. From avant- garde electronica to glam-rock-indie to ukuele bands and everything inbetween. Manchester has it all.
