At 17, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Young women CAN and DO get breast cancer. While breast cancer in young women accounts for a small percentage of all breast cancer cases, the impact of this disease is widespread. There are more than 250,000 women living in the U.S. who were diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 40 or under, and approximately 10,000 young women will be diagnosed in the next year. But, despite the fact that breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women ages 15 to 54:

• Many young women and their doctors are unaware that they are at risk for breast cancer.
• There is no effective breast cancer screening tool for women 40 and under.
• Young women are often diagnosed at a later stage than their older counterparts.
• There is very little research focused on issues unique to this younger population, such as fertility, pregnancy, genetic predisposition, the impact of hormonal status on the effectiveness of treatment, psycho-social and long-term survivorship issues and higher mortality rates for young women, particularly for African-Americans and Latinas.
• Young women diagnosed with breast cancer often feel isolated and have little contact with peers who can relate to what they are experiencing.
• As the incidence of young women with breast cancer is much lower than in older women, young women are underrepresented in many research studies.

For all these reasons, Young Survival Coalition encourages young women to become advocates for their own health and become educated about breast cancer. YSC is the premier international organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women and breast cancer. YSC works with survivors, caregivers and the medical, research, advocacy and legislative communities to increase the quality and quantity of life for women diagnosed with breast cancer ages 40 and under.

Hi There,

The song "STRANGE" fits my life story to the T, as your one of my favorites in the country music as I use to be able to go backstage of the Grand Ole Opera, when I was married to my 1st hubby.
My fahter-In Law and my Wayne (His son,my ex) use to have the honors of playing with Vince Gill, Roy Clark and a few others, I also had the honors of being in Roy Acuff's dressing room and he beg me to hae my older daughter to sing on the opera he even beg for me to allow him to adopte her.
Cynthia became an RN and now is 33, she also graduated with honors and has been very ill with cancer and lupus.she went to colllege so very ill, and works so very ill, Roy would be so proud of her!
She took care of )Walter) her granddaddy, until he passed away, god Rest his soul.
I just had to tell ya how very much I love all of your music, even the one's in which didn't make the charts, and your sitcom, I love it even the reruns your'e the best!
