Rose Wilson Ebaugh passed away on May 4, 2009.

Request for pictures videos, etc. of Rose Wilson Ebaugh. Please send Colleen any photos or footage you might have of Rose. Thanks!

Could you let people know that I am putting a video collage together for the service. Her family has lent me photos of Rose to start with. I would also like to include photos of Rose with her friends so that family and friends can see the many people who were part of her life. She was an amazing woman and worked very hard and selflessly to help so many people in the community. If anyone would like to submit a photo to be part of video collage, they can send a photo to me at this email address. I will be working on it today and tomorrow.

Asserting Self Determination in an Age of Biocolonialism
Wednesday, March 31st, 2009
UNM Zimmerman Library
Brown Bag Discussion, 11 am to 12 pm Herzstein Room
Lecture, 4 pm to 5 pm Willard Room

This presentation will examine Indigenous People's experience with human and non--human genetic research and misappropriation of Indigenous knowledge and resources within a global system known as "biocolonialism". Biocolonialism is furthered by governments through international treaties, national laws and regulations which facilitate scientific, academic institutions, and corporate interests with unfettered access and utilization of genetic material and indigenous knowledge arising from the territories, lands and waters of Indigenous peoples. The result is the misappropriation, manipulation, and alienation of the collective heritage of Indigenous peoples. The presenter will also discuss the elements of Indigenous wisdom, principles, values, and customary law as teh most releveant context from which Indigenous poeples may analyze and address the impacts of biotechnology in their lives, and strategies to protect Indigenous peoples' rights and interest in an age of biocolonialism.

Speaker: Debra Harry, Ph.D.
Executive Director,
Indigenous Peoples Council on Biocolonialism

For more info visit:
http://libguides.unm.edu/inlp

Please forward. :-)
