Hello Matthew.  Thoroughly enjoying your casts - however I feel there has been just a touch too much sobriety in them recently..

..we have some live recorings up - let me know if there's anything that tickles your fancy and I'll drop you an MP3.

Back in studio hopefully next month, and will post you some tunage if it works out.

Hello,

North Atlantic Oscillation's "Hollywood Has Ended", from the forthcoming album Grappling Hooks, is featured in this month's Police Box compilation from TenTracks.
It's here:

http://www.tentracks.co.uk/channel/the-police-box/the-police-box-april-09

In case you haven't heard, TenTracks is a new music delivery service where you can buy exclusive 10-track compilations for £1, i.e. a mere 10p per track.

This month NAO are in the illustrious company of the excellent Found, Orkestra Del Sol, Fence Collective luminaries James Yorkston and King Creosote and exactly 5 others. Once again, that's £1 for ALL TEN TRACKS. Not bad, really.

One of the Scotsman's Top 5 gigs for the week:
"Rob St John, The Wee Rogue, Ben Wetherill
Saturday 4 April, The Bowery, doors: 7.45
Think of the sound of silence. Now add to it a tender, corkscrewing vocal and a few pulse-stopping melodies and you’ve done it; you’ve pinned down Rob St John. The once singer/songwriter now fully functioning band is an exquisite aural pleasure that never fails to induce the tingle of goose-flesh across UTR’s oh-so-manly self. Set in the Bowery’s haunting halls and supported by The Wee Rogue’s brittle-boned mews and Hack & A Hacksaw collaborator Ben Wetherill, you’d be a fool to miss this one."

Matthew, you'll hate this,I'm sure

Our new release "Like Alchemy EP" is now out on Fife Kills: records. Recorded live overnight in a church in Edinburgh. Full band for the first time: saw/cello/harmonium (pandemonium)/autoharp/double bass etc etc.

250 limited edition stamped and numbered copies in recycled packaging. £4 only through Paypal on the myspace page (www. myspace. com/robstjohn)

Some kind folks have said some kind things:

“a fragile and haunting thing. St John's guitar jangles discordantly from time to time, the harmonium wheezes gently in the background, and the eerie warblings of a saw occasionally rises from the ether, lending the whole thing a comforting, after-hours feeling reminiscent of James Yorkston or David Thomas Broughton”
4/5 The Skinny magazine

“harmoniums, saws and guitars creak and groan into a musical balm and is simply the best and most surprising thing I've heard in ages”
Lonesome Music

"Like Alchemy is simply one of the best EPs I’ve heard in 2008 and the title track is one of this year’s most beautiful songs. Simple as that.”
The Daily Growl

“Bill Callahan with more orchestral flair.. Like Alchemy is a mesmerizing and compelling EP from a talented newcomer”
