Hey, does Gus read this myspace page? If not, can someone update and let us know how he is doing. I moved out of state in May and was just thinking about him.
Thanks!

Hello everyone! We went to see Gus yesterday and all I can say is, well, Gus is Back! He really blew me away. I couldn't stump him on anything, in fact, he set me straight on a thing or two that my brain has sort distorted over the years. I'd be like "Gus, you remember when...." and he was like, "Yeah I remember that, but it really happened like this...". And everytime he was right. He may have some short-term glitches, but hell, I don't remember what I was doing a week ago, do you? Once he gets his vision to start coming around he'll be just fine. We were coming back from dinner last nite and the very beginning guitar part of "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" was playing on the radio and Gus goes "I'd like to dedicate this song to my left eye." It was 30 seconds into the song before any of the rest of us realized what song it was. The boy's still sharp. The very next song was "Can't You See" by the Marshall Tucker Band and the flute part hadn't even finished and Gus had created his own lyrics as they pertained to him.
He misses everyone and he misses Athens, so go see him if you can!

Gus sang for us the entire theme song to the Facts of Life last night. I wonder if that's his default song. He also had a duet with Jason on James Browns' Sex machine. He thinks they should play music together, and he wants to be the singer. He also 'hopes' that he can play the guitar.

Yippie for Gus and his badassness that brought him thru his surgeries. I just remembered another "Gusism" I'd like to share with y'all. Several years ago, Gus had the idea for the production of an historical drama, entitled, Christopher Columbus Gets Jacked by Vikings. I'm pretty sure he has already cast Ryan Sikes for the role of Columbus, but anyone with a Viking helmet is encouraged to audition for a spot as a Viking. Inquire with Gus when he gets better.

Like a month ago, Gus, Jeremy King Cole and I were all excited to go see the thrashers game. It was Gus and Jeremy's first 'live' game so i did whateva' i could to get us a ride there.. Anyway, when we got there.. Gus was like a lil' kid, so excited to watch the game, ice girls and drink beer.. It was great! The context of the words - "FUCK HIM Up!!!" will never be the same for me.. B/c Gus and I must'have been yelling that shit all night!!! It was an awesome game.. it went to O.T and thrashers won the penalty shoot out.. We all had fun, including my bro who had just met Gus. We enjoyed many cervezas and tequillas shots... On the way home, i remember staying up with Jeremy King cole and messin with Gus in his sleep.. he looked like a lil' angel - i couldn't stop laughing cause' i am a retard.. But anyway, he did.. he was so peaceful and i was jealous b/c i had to stay up with cole so we could all make it back to athens for a good old' hungover day @ work. goodtimes...greatimes...

Bunch of us were kayaking down the Broad River. We pulled up to some rocks and got out to have a beer and get chinese-eyes. I asked Gus to grab me a beer. What did he do? He karate chopped me in the balls and threw my brand new hat in the river. Gus' certainly interprets things differently than others. He still owes me a damn hat.

I was there the next day for the poop part. Only half of it was there though... I assume he must have invested the other half and is perhaps hoping to use it to fund a remake of the BBC "Ring of Fire" videos in which he (and perhaps Tim??) will star. See below.

A NOT-SO-BRIEF SYNOPSIS OF THE TALE OF HOW GUS RAMOS FOUND HIS WAY TO THE CLASSIC CITY (with a few miscellaneous ramblings of the history of my love and respect for Gus) As recalled and
told by a half-sane, semi-alcoholic redneck in South Georgia

Gus Ramos, as the story goes, first came to Georgia on a week long trip from Alabama, I think it was, to Jesup, GA with Lynn Martin, my cousin Shaggy's old girlfriend. This was probably about 10 years ago. Supposedly, Lynn's car broke down, one week turned in to the entire summer, and Gus sadly became a resident of Jesup, the armpit of the South, and also my hometown. Thats where I first met him, at my Uncle Doc's house in Jesup. Weird little sumbitch, I thought. I guess he'd have to be weird to be hanging around with my little cousin Shaggy, who had just recently flunked out of Rinehart, and was living back home with his parents. I met Gus only briefly while home for the weekend from Athens. Before I went back to Athens on Sunday, I stopped by to visit my Aunt and Uncle and cousin Shaggy. Apparently Gus and Shag had become a good friends, and Gus a regular fixture around their home.
As the story goes, and this is second hand of course, from a semi-drunken fool, Shaggy and a bunch of his friends had decided to move up to Athens, to go to school, seek their fortunes, become rock stars, hippies, or whatever people do in Athens. Shaggy and them thought it would be best if they could get a whole lot of people to move together and share an apartment, you know, minimize utilities and what not. They asked Gus if he wanted to come and he said yeah, he didn't have shit to do. So "The Original Six" moved to Athens. Five boys from Wayne County, Shon "Shaggy" Coleman, Annon Beepath, Josh Hodges, Jay Tootle, Ryan "Rhyno" Sikes, plus a Miami boy, Gus Ramos left the armpit of the South and embarked upon a journey to the best city in Georgia, Athens.
HARPJHarper Johnson

Mar 29, 2008 7:13 AM

Now what I heard was that all six head of them shacked up in one of those apartment complexes on Epps Bridge Rd, Sussex. They were two to a bedroom for the first year, they say.
I don't really know first hand what transpired during that first year because I was in a relationship and not really in the hanging out scene at that time. Soon, however, that came to an end, and I suddenly lost most of my friends to my ex. I called up my little cousin Shaggy, who I hadn't seen the whole first year he and the other clowns had been in Athens. By this time, "The Original Six" had de-congealed, but Shaggy, Rhyno, Annon, and Gus had moved into a house with a new roommate, Stephanie, and then later on, Amanda, a friend of Shag's from Rinehart, who would become Gus' girl. That summer, newly single and downtrodden, having just spent 2 years of my life with a Republican girl, I became a regular on their couch. For about the next year. They became my best friends.
That summer, Gus only wore red t-shirts, green shorts, and a red ball cap with Smokey the Bear on it. So, every time you'd see him he'd look just the same as the last time you saw him. We all decided he was a cartoon, like Barney Rubble. Shaggy said earlier today that that wasn't near as
cool as when he wore that gray and black sweater for the entire first year they were in Athens. I, unfortunetly, missed that. Also that summer, Gus was working at the Golden Pantry on Epps Bridge Rd. Everynight, people were hanging out in a Golden Pantry, just to be around Gus and his spirit-filled antics. I was one of them. When The Buena Vista Social Club was released on VHS we watched it over and over. Gus seemed inspired and got one of those classical Spanish guitars with the wide neck and starting fucking around with it while the other guys were playing Tomb Raider.
HARPJHarper Johnson

Mar 29, 2008 7:13 AM

Within a few days he had written, and was playing a very beautiful, complex, classical, yet mariachi-like song. His fingers moved across those frets naturally, with grace and ease, like a professional who had played forever. But that song was all he played. That was all the guitar he needed to know. Gus made me to watch hockey. He taught me that its the coolest sport ever, because, and I quote Gus, #1. When you
kick the ever-loving shit out of someone's ass in a hockey game, you don't get fined or suspended, you just have to be put in timeout for a few minutes. #2. Unlike most other professional sports,it takes a hell of an effort to score, even once. #3. Its the only sport where fans throw octopi on the field of play. And most importantly, #4. Hockey players have the coolest, awesomest, most far-out last names like Gneeshi or Loti or Clackenfuss. You never hear of a Smith or Jones in hockey. If there were any, their names would be spelled something like Smiuethii and Jonusorru. But they'd still be pronounced Smith and Jones he said.
Since you all know Gus, you know that Gus became a pivotal friend in my life. I've never met anyone who can automatically, by default, be loved by everyone he comes in contact with, but that's Gus. My wife had the opportunity to get to meet him a couple of years ago, maybe twice, and she feels the same way, as does everyone who knows Gus. He's a person one always looks forward to seeing. He's a day-brightner. He's a Ninja. I can hardly wait to see him, soon. Having Gus as a friend has made me a better person. All the love and spirit that's in Gus can't help but to find its way into the souls of the people whose paths have crossed his. That love and spirit is what's gonna bring him right on through. Gus has always had so much to give to the hearts of others and there's plenty left to come. Don't fret about ol' Gus. He's a Ninja, a cartoon.
HARPJHarper Johnson

Mar 29, 2008 7:11 AM

We all know its impossible to defeat a Ninja, and that Wyl E. Coyote always gets the opportunity to chase that Roadrunner another day. My love to Gus and his mother and the rest of his family and his daughter. See everyone at the 40 watt.
Thanks,Big Love
