got a show friday at caffe corner coffee in sparkleberry crossing, hope you can make it out. here is some poet love.

Benchmark

Newspapers as sheets and blankets over bulbous bodies on park benches to keep the hypothermia of loneliness from freezing tears shut, these tormented eyes. Sink into the disposable lighter of spittoon dreams. Soup kitchen urchins of malt a meal planner without milk on ramshackle crosses of crown of thorn urinals, toothless grins smile back from seven years of luck mirrors. When head escape the Wall Street Journal stare at children with parents that walk with ice cream social lingerie couture by the pond of Central Park. Where are our youth memories of parents dissolve in the drool from lips slip with Mogen David broken bottles. All that remains the same are the roaches’ drain that crawl classifieds each day. Link us to email obit, when we die, let our parents know our names are engraved under our right pinky cuticle, tattoo reverse so when we look in mirrors we remember the heresy of the American Dream. Eyestrain that vanishes when comic pages claim our The Far Side life, everlasting.

The ice cream cones become megaphones declare the death knell, children remembering these men that we are not in fear that our lives will splash upon this bench in our future. Undaunted each lick the caramel scoop encased vanilla, taste its sweetness, as memory lingers, then you see your name betray itself under your right pinky cuticle, a shadow that grows brighter each day.

Sorry I didn't make it guys. I played two sets in Lancaster yesterday and by the time I made it home it was already 10 PM and I was mucho tired. But, I'll be there next show and we'll book something together soon I hope.
