Subject: Time Sensitive: The Future of California: Students' College and Career Goals Survey Beautiful friends and allies, Many of you know that we have been working to make systemic change for undocumented students in California- specifically with the passage of the CA Dream Act, SB 1301, authored by Senator Gil Cedillo. It passed the Assembly floor on Monday. It's going to the Governor's desk for his signature or denial. As we are working to convince him to sign this into law, we need to provide him with compelling data. However, data on undocumented is rarely collected, much less quantified. As a result, we've developed a survey (data collection instrument link is below) to quantify their dreams, plans and potential contributions to the California economy. To our knowledge, this is the first survey of its kind in California. As we are making the final push to pass the CA Dream Act, we realize that collecting career and college goals from current and former students who are undocumented is a powerful missing link. Please share this link with students whom you know are undocumented so that we can measure and capture their thoughts, insight and career goals. This data will be imperative for making the comprehensive argument that, students in this situation have goals, and can and will contribute to the California economy. Our goal is to collect 500 surveys to provide a comprehensive overview of this population in California. This is time sensitive: All responses should be submitted by August 15th. Time is of the Essence as we want to utilize this data set to influence California and the national debate on the Dream Act.
