HUGE PRAYER REQUESTS: first Talor is 11/ 12 years old and just got his first knee, the opperation went well, however during the opperation he began bleeding internally. The doctors could not explain why he was bleeding internally, but for some unknown reason he stopped bleeding, but now he needs lots of blood, but his veins are too weak. So practically his life is in God's hands. Secondly, Another man who works with my mom has been diagonsed with Chromes Diasese and two/ three weeks ago was diagnosed to have cancer in his stomach. Since then the cancer has spread to two lymphnodes. His life is also in God's hands because he is too weak for any cures available for cancer. He is reported to be in good spirits though.

To all,
This Thursday, August 9th, we'd like to invite you to the home of Chad and Kathy Davies to view the Russian movie titled, "Ostrov" or "The Island".
The film is a powerful look at the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of one man.
We'll start the film at 7:00 pm and pizza and drinks will be provided. The film runs about one and three-quarters hours and we'll follow it with discussion afterwards for those who can stay.
We hope you can find some time in your schedule to get a chance to join us in seeing a film that will really challenge your ideas about the Holy Spirit and whom God works through to achieve His purposes.
We'd like to extend a special invitation to all those who are GCF alumni to return to a sort of "Homecoming" and to have a chance to catch up.
In Him,
Chad

Everyone...Please I don't know if you have heard but I'm sending out a major prayer request for a little boy in Florida. Check out the number 2 spot on my top friends to see him. He's suffering from Shaken baby syndrome and he's just captured my heart and prayers. please keep Kaleb in your prayers. I pray that like Caleb from the old testament I pray that god will guide this little boy, kaleb, into greatness.

To all,
Jacob Holloway has asked that we pray for his Dad. Bishop Holloway has had a massive stroke and is in fairly serious condition at Emory hospital in Atlanta. Please take a moment whenever you read this to lift Bishop Holloway and his family in prayer.
Thanks,
Chad

Last Thursday we had a great discussion of the three levels of Spiritual Warfare. This week we'll discuss the most important attribute you need to deal with your desire to do your own will, the culture's influence on you and the devil and His flaming arrows.
We'll have dessert and beverages at 7 and then open the Word of God at 7:30 pm. I hope you can join us for a great time.
In Him,

Hello to All!
Summer school at Gordon starts tomorrow and so the 4-1-1 is going to start back up again on Thursday night at 7 pm at the Davies' home. We'll have beverages and dessert from 7-7:30 and then Bible study from 7:30-8:30 or so. The topic this summer is spiritual warfare and we'll be looking at a lot of different passages from Scripture that talk about this.
Dr. Davies will be holding an evening of looking at the stars at 9 pm for his astronomy class if anyone would like to participate in that as well at the athletic fields at Gordon if the skies are clear.
We know that several of you are out of town for the summer but if you can make it, it would be great so see you.
In Him,
Chad

To all,
For anyone who's interested and needs a break from finals, GCF will be hosting our end of the semester get together at 7 pm this evening. The event will take place at the Davies' home and is a come and go event. We'll have a movie going (Bubba Ho-Tep, an Elvis meets the Mummy sort of thing) and some munchies. No dinner will be served and no one has to stay the whole time (in fact, if you need to study for finals, we don't expect to see you all that much, if at all).
Drop by if you can so we can wish you a great summer.
In Him,
Chad

To all,
Here are events this week:
Wednesday 4/18: CoffeeHouse 7-10 pm. This is the second to last CoffeeHouse so if you have a few minutes stop by and say hi. Who knows, maybe we’ll have some more music this week by Josh Selph. If anyone is interested in participating, we will hold a brief time of prayer at 8:00 pm for the community of Virginia Tech.
Thursday 4/19: 4-1-1 Dinner and Bible Study 7-9 pm. Dinner will be from 7-7:45 and a study of Revelation 21 and the New Jerusalem to follow.
Please be praying for the faculty, staff, students and families of Virginia Tech this week as they seek to cope with the tragedy that has befallen them.
Also, for those of you who have been praying for my mom, her surgery went well. They removed her entire left lung but believe that they got all the cancer. She’s still in intensive care but is recovering well and has started eating solid food again. She and I think you all for your prayers.
In Him,
Chad

To all,
I need to ask all of you who live in or near the residence halls to do us a big favor. We're trying to kick off a new Bible study/discussion group in the residence halls. It's called Nooma and it'll meet in the Commons A Multipurpose Room.
As you probably know, you need people to get people-it's a concept I call critical mass. If people see several people getting together for something they'll be more likely to check it out.
This is where you can help us out. For the next week or two, can you try to make time to come to Nooma from 7-8 pm? Can you invite one friend/roommate/ classmate to come with you? We're not asking for an all semester long commitment but just some help getting the ball rolling.
We'll be using a DVD series called Nooma which was developed by Rob Bell for college students. The DVD presentation is about 10-15 minutes long and then we'll be having a discussion about the ideas and issue the DVD brings up. It's not exactly a Bible study in that we aren't specifically studying things out of the Bible directly but everything will be biblically based. Also, it won't be just one person speaking but a discussion that everyone can participate in.
Ben North, John Cox and Tory Peek will be facilitating the discussions and I know they'd really appreciate your help as would I.
For those who are helping with CoffeeHouse or coming to the 4-1-1, if you need to skip one or both of those to help us out with this and have time for schoolwork, we totally understand. I think this is a great opportunity for GCF to do something neat.
In Him,
Chad

We'd like to put the first of these together in the next couple of days (it's going to be really simple)so get back to me soon.

For those who are willing and able to make it down (or up or over or...) to Barnesville before school actually starts, GCF will be having a Spring Semester organizational meeting on Thursday, Jan 4th. The meeting will be at the normal 4-1-1 time of 7:00 pm at the Davies'. The agenda will be:
-Talking about the Spring semester activities
-CoffeeHouse
-A possible dorm Bible study with lots of student leadership on Tuesday nights once or twice a month
-Ash Wednesday Activities
-Election of Officers
Also, we'll have some time for the discussion of how our community is doing and what spiritual insights and growth the holiday season has brought.
Please attend if you can and if you know of someone in the group who is a part of our community who doesn't receive this, please pass the word along to them.
If you can't make it but are still interested in serving as an officer or have ideas for the Spring, please message me and let me know. Also, if you can help out with set-up, break down or bartending for CoffeeHouse, please let me know. We want to make sure that there are plenty of people from within our community that can help a we serve the larger community of Gordon College through this activity. We'd like to have a schedule so that no single person has to work more than an hour.
In Him,
Chad

Two prayer requests that can't wait till Thursday
A family friend has just gone in to surgery for a triple bipass surgery. He's 39 and in good health. But this is a dangerous surgery and if something were to happen he'd leave behind a wife and two beautiful children. So I ask you all to pray for his recovery and also for strength for his family.
I'd also like to ask for a continuation of the prayer request I made about Reggie's grandmother. She now has caught pneumonia. I ask that you pray not only for his grandmother but his family if god sees fit to take her to be with him. I'm worried about Reggie's mother since she has a weak heart. Reggie says she's doing okay right now but I still worry about her as well as Reggie since this was the only grandmother he ever got to know. He was close to her.
Thank you for your prayers. I know they are helping just by how strong Reggie and his mother are being
