so i worked at a club the other night doing live sound, and these guysplayed a set. they were pretty good, although i think their album is better than their live show. live they were sorta all over the place, but you could still get the gist of what they're about.
they sound like thom yorke's 'eraser' but they told me that he released that album right while they were in the middle of creating this album, already sounding the way it does. anyway, they're pretty decent, and i might end up trying to record them at some point. you should check 'em out. they're from sf. pretty decent. needs some polishing.

Love your stuff, first found you via Something Awful (lol), and I'm looking forward to purchasing your next album. I am really looking to see what you're going to do with hand percussion and samples too, I've always loved when musicians take advantage of field recording and natural ambience, and it's awesome that you keep trying new stuff.

i've had strange dreams of driving nails through people's flesh at their request, and also of men with the horse's hooves instead of feet, whose legs were severed at the thigh and were barely held together with shoelaces.

did you know that the first message ever sent over any electronic medium (which happened to be a telegraph) was "what hath god wrought?"

i looked it up.
it is in the book of the bible known as 'numbers'.
chapter 23
verse 23

no joke.

Appreciate the words. I'm jealous of your instrument of choice--it took me until just recently to realize that the guitar is somewhat of a tonal bottleneck, but the piano so more musically inclined to variation and harmonic freedom. I also enjoy your music greatly--if I'm in the Bay area, I'll definitely try to see one of the plays you score. All the best.

i have been listening to:

disparition

fsol (isdn)

woob

shenkar

a random slavic composer whose work was played at 1 am on kalx 90.7 the other night, which sounded as if wagner had taken valium and xtc, worked with some gregorian chants in an italian cathedral and then threw in a showtunes feel for kicks. it was fucking amazing.

60's psychedelic persian funk

ambient sounds that will be used by me to create a soundtrack behind a cut up 'last words of hassan sabbah' for my final project at school.

bright eyes

i think i also had this weird dream of a fishbowl that i was putting my fingers into, which would create sound when they touched the surface. then i no longer had fingers. they became sound. the ripples were amazing.

Hey, since i'm going back to school i was thinking of possible experimental projects...
perhaps you'd like to either write a new song or arrange one of your old ones.
i dunno, something along the lines of
you: piano (synth)
one: cello player
one: percussionist/drummer
one: vocalist who does not speak english
one: bizzare midget that shows up in your dreams and speaks backwards
two: grams of opium
one: high level recording studio run by me (eventually)

we have a few months to prep.
just thought i'd put that in your head.
