That was a great set at Rancho Relaxo. Sparkling musicianship that's hard-hitting and melodic, these are pop-rock jewels that draw inspiration from the 70's, roots-flavoured Americana, and East Coast Music. Lush tunes that shimmer of catchy hooks and energy. Impressive to say the least.

Great NXNE review in this issue of Exclaim Magzine, 'Brent Randall termed the trio format of this gig his "mini-Pinecones," but the Halifax-based tunesmith doubled ably on both keyboards and guitar. Their very tuneful songs showed 70s AM pop influences on some tunes, while "Mr. Shoemaker Man" had an almost vaudevillian approach. Sweet stuff'

B. Randall et Pinecones: I do indeed dig the "Love You" album. It was way more of an influence on my earlier stuff, than it is today. The height of it's influence is probably my now rare and way OP (but available "used") first cd, "For Those who like POP" on the defunct Twee Kitten label. I like that weird thing BW does with constant keys and a pared down kit, sometimes only a snare. Anyhoo, over and out...SB

Brent! Please have a listen to my new song, “Consideration” in the mighty MySpace player. It features me and that perfect percussive palooka, Anthony Allen of Washington, D.C. Not a real mix, but pretty much finished. It will appear on my next album, Smellicopter, in 2010/2011.

Nice little write-up in Eye Magazine about the Saturday show at Rancho Relaxo 'Even though Brent Randall & His Pinecones evoke memories of Paul McCartney and Harry Nilssons wistful melodies, there's something distinctly Canadian about these Nova Scotian flora and fauna'

Master of Pop music!

Drop whatever you are doing and listen to my new song in the MySpace player.

Yet more “live” radio appearance gold from the Pure Pop show back in May 2008.

I recorded a “live” version of one of my most beloved songs, “Karen,” an important part of my 1999 cd, For Those Who like POP (available everywhere now as a download album, or I can scare up an original rare compact disc for you online somewhere). This version is a special scaled down arrangement which deletes an instrumental section that is impossible to play on guitar.

Once again, just me and an acoustic guitar.
Please listen and let me hear from you.

Listened to all your songs this morning. "Strange Love" is just sublime, absolute perfection: arrangement and instrumentation..and, well, everything else.
"Snowdrops" is the best "cult of Bacharach" piece I've ever heard, and a fantastic song in every way.
I hate to admit when someone may be better than me...but, you might be! Full marks, Mr. Bond.
