Here's the books again...
Protecting the Gift
And The structure of arguement.

The first was written by a former FBI profiler, and the second is just an excellent way to help him build confidence when he argues with other people.

I have sadly been neglecting that oen of late;) another good book I cna't stress the importance enough of is How to win friends and influence people. It's an excellent book on how to socially interact with people in a postitive way... another book I have been neglecting of late. Social interaction is one of the hardest things to teach a child, nevermind a child who's been abused.

So... three books really, just a start, btu a healthy one.

Agree with BG, school counseling would at best be a check in the block.
Not something I would go with..

I don't blame you! How frustrating...

Just be there for him...forget them.
Brother Grimace

Nov 25, 2009 9:02 PM

They see it as much of an attack on them as on him.

They are ashamed to be victimized. Make sure THEY read those books too.

And school counseling is NOT even on the map. Not even a blip.

Ask any officer, social worker, "reformed" [whatever] abuser, and they'll tell you the best defense a child has is confidence. You cna bet your sweet ass my lil girl is going to have confidence, and know self defence...

@Sherrie, I may have been too harsh. I'm sorry. You have as much right to a voice as anyone else.

Forgive me.

I wanted to kill that that son of a bitch and his mama for what he did to my nephew. But I believe it was done to him, too. And he never got help and my stupid ass sister and bro in law seemed to think that shcool counseling is gonna be very helpful. When there are FREE programs they can take advantage of to help my nephew break thru all this. His parents make me so phucin sick and I'm tired of goin thru it with them!!

Nov 25, 2009 8:56 PM

This is what you have to let him know La,
what happened to him is not his fault anymore
then getting hit by a car while walkng in the
cross walk would be, and just like those wounds
heal if properly treated...his will too.

But do not let that person ruin Your life,
That is the best revenge ;)
Brother Grimace

Nov 25, 2009 8:56 PM

:,( I'm very sorry to hear about your nephew La.

Here's my advice.

Help him put it behind him.

Keep a close eye on the people he chooses to hang out with and who takes an interest in him. this doesn't mean you should see ghosts everywhere, jsut be protective.

Personally It hink the author is too harsh, but I cna't deny the logic.
Get a book called Protecting the Gift. It will help immensly. As well, make sure he never feels he doesn't have a voice in the matter. You can also help him by findign this book or the subsequent books... The Structure of Arguement. It will help give him confidence when his Righteous mind [to borrow a phrase] is put under stress.

I have two family members whom were raped, and both weren't believed because one has a questionable past and the other is a guy. The sad thing is that in the past, when someone whom was raped brought forth what happened to them, they themselves were treated worse than the person whom raped them. By not taking heed of their claims, the authorities and anyone else whom dismisses their charges in effect help extend the rape and make the pain much more worse. To dismiss someone because they have a questionable past or because they are a guy and things like this cant happen to a guy is to close your mind to the fact that it does happen, everyday, but most don't hear about it because they're too into themselves and basically have their head in the sand as to what's really going on in this world.
Brother Grimace

Nov 25, 2009 8:51 PM

and i'm not brve... I'm scared.

This woman, if she is sincere, is brave.

I'm not defending her assinine behaviour, I'm defending her right to be heard.... without being looked at with complete derision.
Brother Grimace

Nov 25, 2009 8:49 PM

People are ignorant Keri. They dont' understand that others mocking of them or disregard for their situation or downplaying of their situation makes them feel less than human.

While her intitial hurt was bad, this young womans internal hurts are going to be made far worse by the people, unknowingly or not, who belittle her experience, tell her to get over it and stop throwing herself a pity party, and say she's over reacting.

reagan may have been a tool, but his Phrase Trust but verify was pretty frickin astute.

BG, who the fuck are you? YOUR A HUMAN BEING. Although we might disagree on some political issues, your human. Like I said before, I'm sorry for what happened to you, but the world needs more people like you to speak out. Sure, some people won't believe you, but a lot of people will.
Brother Grimace

Nov 25, 2009 8:42 PM

Screw what happened to me.

Personally I'd prefer to forget it, btu I hate hate hate it when people say shit as if they have the moral high ground to criticize others as if they possibley couldnt' understand it.

You want to stop rape? Stop engaging in acts that enable it. Everyopne is capable of it, and every0oen is capable of being the victim of it.

And so you know Sherrie... I'm not making shit up like a million little peices... gtet it?
Jesse

Nov 25, 2009 8:41 PM

I just saw a commercial on another channel that might have exposed the real numbers behind Sarah Palin's book sales. One magazine company is offering Sarah's book for $4.95 and you get a free subscription to their magazine. Another is offering the book for free if you subscribe to their magazine.

This goes to show that both companies bought up a bunch of Sarah's books in hopes of getting more people to subscribe to their magazines, thus inflating the true number of books sold and making it seem like she's an honest NYT Best Seller. Oh, and the 2nd company is also gives you the choice to pick Glenn Beck's or Michelle Malkin's book if you don't want Sarah's book lol.
SupaKat

Nov 25, 2009 8:39 PM

Wow BG! I know where you are coming from. There are different types of rape. I wish I could share more but I am sorry that happened to you.
Brother Grimace

Nov 25, 2009 8:38 PM

Fuck...

People need to get over their perceptions of who is allowed to be a victim.
Brother Grimace

Nov 25, 2009 8:37 PM

Well, Keri, you know what's really Fucked?

It's all true. But hey... who the fuck am I and quite frankly, and only meaning minimal offense Sherrie... who the fuck was your sister at the time? jsut another victim I'm sure.
RandiRandi Dennis

Nov 25, 2009 8:36 PM

Keri...yeah....also another thing to consider is that another person may want to make political hay out of this [as in another JAG officer] so he got the best possible defense he could. Of course, if he were to get off on insanity, I can assure you someone will want to put him out of our collective misery.
Brother Grimace

Nov 25, 2009 8:36 PM

Oh my god that's jsut silly. A cop wouldnt' do that! Your older brother wouldn't do that! Your boyfriend your dad, your mom your babysitter wouldnt' do that!

Bullshit!

So this woman was irrate. So she was angry over being treated like a liar. So she got upset when the clerk decided to act anal and obstinant.

no reason for claling the police. Call walmart officials to escort her out and let her rant.

Brother Grimace

Nov 25, 2009 8:34 PM

And more to the point... it's about the fact that the rapist is still out there. Still able to rape others, and noone believes you when you tell them they're dangerous.
Brother Grimace

Nov 25, 2009 8:32 PM

Well, Sherrie, as someone who was raped as a young man I cna tell you she knows exactly what she's talking about.

It's called being helpless, lvign with the fact you weren't strong enough to fight back when being attacked. It's about noone listening to oyu, and people like you belitteling our experiences. it's all abotu that.

True, havign someone shove their parts in your mouth or in your [use your imagination], but every other feeling, liek that of being violated, coems along with it. I say that as not only a victim of molestation, but of crooked cops beating the crap out of me ... because they could. because the constitution doesn't specifically state that someone accused of being drunk is allowed to have an alcohol test that will prove their sobriety, and the constitution doesn't specifically state that any officer is obligated to oblige.

So ... think before oyu type.
RandiRandi Dennis

Nov 25, 2009 8:32 PM

SupaKat.....understood. And this may ..and I stress....MAY make the case for someone saying the next time this happens and it is a case of racial animosity, it may be called crying wolf.

I would have turned the guys in at the canal if I had been there. Knowing what it takes to become a First sergeant in the army I cant understand the reasoning behind such a senior NCO issuing such an order. He had to have known better. The NCO corps ain't what it used to be.

15 years for resisting arrest is rape....rapist get shorter sentences. She looks like she has a bad attitude but 15 years?

Nov 25, 2009 8:28 PM

Randi, I agree with you because I know that he did it as a strategic move to better himself, but if he was so "rightous" you'd think he'd want to look bad with a muslim lawyer and claim that he doesn't have a fair trial because of his religion.
RandiRandi Dennis

Nov 25, 2009 8:28 PM

Folks....we almost had a similar situation like what happened at that WalmArt in Mo the other night at one of the Fred Meyer's here in town. Again what came across in rather vivid detail was the attitude of the shoppers in question and that they were not being treated in any manner that would be considered racist or detrimental.
