SOUL DESTRUCTION

Jul 5, 2009 11:23 AM

Thanks for supporting Soul Destruction.

Described as: 'like Soulfly if Trent Reznor were part of the band,' their debut album "There's No Profit in Truth", mixes the pent up frustration of acts such as Rage Against The Machine with the raging, highly charged riffs of classic Machine Head. Good, honest, politically aware and highly charged Metal at its best...

Damo Suzuki is a legend! Best known for his stint as the legendary Krautrock pioneers Can as their singer in the 70s, Damo now tours the world to hook up with the best of local musicians to produce stunning sets of improvised music. We cannot stress how good this will be enough - you’ve never experienced anything like a Damo Suzuki show before, even if you’ve been to a Damo Suzuki show before! This extra special show will see Damo backed by the collective brilliance that is Quack Quack and Napoleon IIIrd.

Quack Quack simply the best live band Forest of Sound have ever seen - so much energy, so much musical invention, so much skill... well, it's almost obscene.

One man empassioned alt-pop legend with his reel-to-reel tape player, Napoleon IIIrd is a man of skewed melodies, bouncing beats and a big bucket of inventiveness... and is simply ace.

Friday: 13/3/2009 @ The Brudenell, Leeds. Doors 7.30pm.
A Forest of Sound presentation. £6 adv / £7 on the door.
Tickets available at Jumbo Records, Crash Records, and We Got Tickets.

Forest of Sound

Charlie Parr is from the same Duluth music scene that spawned the likes of Low and Haley Bonar, and his music delves deep into the back roads of American folk music, there’s hints of Robert Johnson, Nick Drake and Will Oldham in his playing, and a true from the heart power and clarity that is simply stunning. This guy is the real thing, and you can hear it in every note he plays, which would also explain why the people at the superb End of the Road festival ask him back every single year!

Neil McSweeney plays beautifully considered and perfectly restrained music that will delight fans of Low, Adrian Crowley, Nina Nastasia, Mark Kozelek, and Jason Molina.

Deftly fingerpicked folk loveliness from a local favourite - Michael Rossiter perfectly executes traditional folk as well as his own material, sings from his heart and gets the perfect sound from his guitar.

Sunday: 1/3/2009 @ The Packhorse, Leeds. Doors 8pm.
A Forest of Sound presentation in association. £5 adv / £6 on the door.
Tickets available at Jumbo Records, Crash Records, and We Got Tickets.

The old, old story...with each tick of the clock it becomes more and more apparent that people see what they are capable of seeing, and no more. Sadly, many eyes are clouded by prejudice and preconceptions; by idiocy and a lack of sense for the finer shades, or - as in the case you posited - a lurid haze of dipsomania and problems vis-a-vis relating to women (a random stab in the dark, there, but I wouldn't be surprised if I hadn't struck the nail at least on the shoulder or neck...).
One persists though, in the hope that somewhere, amidst those many-headed audience monsters we confront night after gruelling night, will be one or two with the wit and/or spiritual similarities to "get it."
Eternal thanks for being one of them, by the way.

Killaflaw - Set Me On F…

Oct 12, 2008 10:25 AM

Hey!

As a friend of Killaflaw we'd like to give you the opportunity of purchasing our uniquely numbered, limited edition CD single 'Revolution' which also includes the much loved 'Holy Fuck' on the B side.

There are only 1000 copies in existence and further copies will be sold without these unique numbers, so here is your chance to own a piece of music history from the LIPA award winning band dubbed by Eddy dance/rock guru Temple-Morris "the missing link between Soundgarden and The Prodigy"

The record is of course also available to buy as MP3 download.

To get your copy go to the following link:

www. cdbaby. com/killaflaw

Thanks again for supporting Killaflaw and we really hope you enjoy.

unfortunately not skint like that. skint like no benefits and no paypacket skint...
as for earnings - the time honoured method for musicians to eke out their starvation wages is by passing on their musical skills to the next generation. usually for £10-£15 p.h.
hope that helps...

You raise an intriguing point: as bands, we give a certain amount of thought to how an audience will recieve us. "Will they like this song?" "Will they grasp the concepts we've laboured so hard to imbue into every note?", etc. Hardly ever does one consider whether or not an act appreciates their listeners. I'd imagine that very few punters leave a gig disappointed with their performance as an auditor - "God, I wish I'd applauded with more fervour after that 2nd song! I really fucked that clapping up - I hope they didn't notice!" And yet, in theory, a sceance such as any band might perform IS an interactive experience. Audiences should consider this - there could be some truly great listeners out there; bands could peep from the wings and note favourites with excitement: "Look! Steve Porter's in! His whistling ROCKS!" or "Oh, fuck! It's Karen Maltby! I hope she does one of her piercing scream solos!"
It's unlikely ever to happen, but what a world that would be, eh? ITV1 could present "Audience Idol" where thousands of hopefuls compete under the stern stewardship of a troupe of minor celebrities such as one of the ubiquitous Osborne clan in order to win the coveted first prize of leading the mourning of HM the Queen's State Funeral.
Thanks for ackowledging that it's not always about the audience liking a band, anyway. Performers have feelings too - I hope some of the yawping fuckwits that haunt music venues take this on board, some time...
Keep it gangsta, etc,

Though I've been commended frequently upon the scope and depth (especially the depth) of my imagination, I find myself all but incapable of envisioning the paucity of a life that renders flipping back and forth between MySpace profiles in order to follow a virtual discourse between a couple whom they - in all probability - barely know, a source of entertainment. It seems a rather tepid form of voyeurism, doesn't it? Lurking in bushes with the Night Vision Goggles and Heat-Imaging Device trained on the boudoir window: I can see the point in that - unwholesome though it would be. Monitoring their flippaint social-networking-sight banter, on the other hand ... you'd have to be so starved of stimulation, I'd think.
Having said that, though, having seen what's out here on the internet, I don't suppose it'd be that surprising for such a dismal creature to exist, so if you ARE stalking these comments, kindly fuck off out of it, you ghastly, sorry-assed reprobate.
Steadfast, solid, and true, m'dear.
