A MONTH OF THURSDAYS.

What-ho! For the next Three Thursdays (starting tonight) we've got our favourite band WINNERS playing at 8pm at The Enterprise. Every week at 9pm we have the wonderful modernist/northern soul sound of cheeky chappies VINNY VINNY. Each week we have a different headliner. Tonight (14TH)we're wecoming the melodic phsych sounds of the highly acclaimed band THE HIGH WIRE. Next week (21ST) you can "get on one" and "haaaaaave eeeet " with Londons finest exponents of Baggy SOL DEVIOUS. The final headliner of the run is SISTER. They are ace. Think a female Eddy Cochrane fronting The Mary Chain and you're half way there. This is the launch party for their new single.

So, surely you're not busy every Thursday night in August; unless you're coming to all of these fabulous gigs!

This Sunday afternoon sees the return of the BUCKET FULL OF BRAINS MAGAZINE SPECIAL at The World's End. This month they've bagged EILEEN ROSE AND THE HOLY WRECK + CASE HARDIN. Starts around 5pm should be great and it's FREE!

There's loads of stuff coming up including a bizzrarro Evening with MORTON VALLENCE at the new Monarch on 23rd of August. But more on that later.

Come along tonight for a beer and a natter and three of the best bands you'll see this year.
..

Love you.

From today's Metro!!!

The Windmill Xmas Party (Sun 16 ..ucked away off Brixton Hill, The Windmill has long been a bastion of of ace independant music programming. Despite the name, this pub venue looks gritty rather than pretty, but it's gigs attract a convivial crowd of regulars and exciteable newcomers.

And while there are certainly bigger stars performing elsewhere this weekend, you'll arguably have the most fun with the Windmill's exuberant indie selection box on Sunday. Before then, it's also worth checking out Saturday's French indie bill (£4), featuring the sublime Monade (fronted by Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier).

Sunday night's Xmas Party headliners are Belfast's excellent Clone Quartet (pictured), showcasing the electro rock of their new album Well- Oiled Machine. This bunch mould snazzy songs from analogue rhythms, electric guitars and drawling vocals.

There's copious up-and-coming variety in support, including winsome new Fortuna Pop! tunesmiths My Sad Captains, the buoyantly catchy Winners and Olympic Lifts, whose sound is propelled by hip hop beats and surreal rhymes; their single I Am Cursed is due out in January.

Watch out too, for Betty and the Werewolves, who wield the kind of rollicking, B-movie-patterned retro rock you'd expect from such a loudly titled quartet.

Further guests are yet to be announced but the bill already promises quality and quantity for a bargain price - a rare treat in the capital.
