Something i found today in nature news. full story is in my blog, if anyone is interested.

"Buckyballs give flash a boost
Fullerenes could be used to reduce amount of power needed in memory devices.
Nature News: Eric Hand
Spherical carbon molecules such as these could be used to make flash memory drives less power-hungry.
Flash memory, the workhorse of mobile phones and digital cameras, could be made more efficient by using buckyballs. These spherical fullerene molecules, comprised of 60 carbon atoms, would allow flash memory to operate at a lower voltage and save on power, researchers reported last week.
'We’re the first ones trying to borrow molecular electronics concepts and put them into non-volatile memory,' says electrical engineer Tuo-Hung Hou of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, who led the research (T.-H. Hou et al. Appl. Phys. Lett. 92, 153109; 2008).
'The major bottleneck of the current flash memories is the voltage,' says Hou.
Enter the buckyball. By adding buckyballs to the barrier layer, the Cornell engineers create resonances that amplify the current during the high-voltage write or erase phase. So the voltage needed during writing or erasing is lowered, by an order of magnitude or more. 'It’s a very interesting twist,' says Sanjay Banerjee, an electrical engineer at the University of Texas at Austin, who was not involved in the research.
Chenming Hu, an electrical engineer at the University of California, Berkeley, says that the concept is attractive, and could help extend the tenure of flash as the dominant form of non-volatile memory.

Thanks for the add.
It is amazing to see the parallels between the way Bucky eloquently describes how we adopted our present day banking, monetary and taxation system that start around page 73 in “Critical Path” the chapter "Legally Pigally”, and the events that are occurring today in 2008 with our banking and monetary systems. Just over the weekend we had the Fed team up with JP Morgan (ticker symbol: JPM) to bailout Bear Stearns (ticker symbol: BSC). On Thursday March 13, 2008, BSC was trading at $57/share after stating for weeks that they did not have a liquidity crisis. On Friday March 14, 2008, BSC said all wasn’t well and that they were in default on their obligations and the shares of BSC traded at $30. On Sunday, March 16, 2008, BSC is being bought by JPM for $2/share with the Fed taking over $30 billion of BSC riskiest assets. We are witnessing a history making crisis. Wish Bucky was here to truthfully define the crisis and advise on what needs to be done!
