After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001

Where traditions are not so rare;
    Sea, country and works scent the air;
A multitude of monuments,
    Planted tubs and patterned pavements.

The longish pedestrian malls;
    The remnants of defensive walls;
Historic buildings are a gauge
    Of the respect for heritage.

Wheat, rape and pines in the fields;
    Estuaries guarded by shields;
Long sandy beaches and wide scenes;
    Romantic-ruin go-betweens.

Rivers in parts licked by trees,
    Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries,
And crossed by practical delights -
    Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.

Fine churches headed at Durham;
    Football kits ad infinitum;
Kept castles - one for study;
    Masonry behind masonry.

And, with moulding-works out that way,
It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

CHEETHAM'S ZOMBIES - PHOTO COOKIES
Are now available to order for your Halloween parties, Haunted Attractions, Concerts, Movie Premieres, and Zombie Walks!
We take a regular photo of you, turn you into a zombie, and place you on the very cookies you choose to sell at your event, or hand out as treats...but that's not all we can do.
We can take your logo, your promo posters, our photos of your cast members or attractions, and place them on the cookies too!
These are literally one of a kind treats, the cookies you order will be shipped to nobody else. Each cookie has a vivid image of your choice and are delicious. They come wrapped in cellophane with your choice of ribbon color and are then packaged in individual boxes (as seen in the photo above, boxes are optional). These are truly, edible works of dark art.

So, the weekend has like, arrived, and I think there really is only one thing you should be doing...pleasing yourself. Make sure you spend every second of the weekend involved in heavy sessions of self pleasing, for once you have pleased yourself, you will be capable of pleasing others as well, prehaps at the same time.

Episode 8: Oligarchy rules of our little podcast is out now as well by the way, on itunes or last.fm, would love to know what you think of it, once you've pleased yourself of course :)

Yeah, you are probably right, the night I was at in May was billed as a "Cabaret" night. I enjoyed it, Munnery was a revelation to me, but I felt for him as things went quickly pear shaped. Norman Lovett looked even more pissed off and hangdog than usual, he wasn't at all pleased with the layout or the people who bizarely made the decision to have food during the act. Still it's not really their fault, the Komedia should treat their performers with more respect and not just think of profits from food and wine.

I must say though that Bath is a lovely place and I really enjoyed my hols there! I stayed in a flat just across from Ann  Summers slap bang in town. It was just above a milkshake bar that I recommend. You can get all your favourite kinds of chocolate bar in milkshake form. I was also glad to find some great DVD's in their HMV. The original (and best) 39 steps with the legenday Robert Donat and Madellaine Carrol; Blow up and the Lonliness of the Long Distance runner.

Didn't I warn you about the Bath Komedia? It's a nightmare venue! There will be a handful of oafish Bristolians who will wreck your night...Nah, I'm sure it was a one off, but the Cabaret gig I went to with Simon Munnery etc had an atmosphere of simmering tension and even violence!

Don't say I didn't warn you!

Ps, during your gig, people will walk to the toilets at the side of the stage and it will no doubt get on your tits. Also, people are served food during a gig which will also infuriate you.

a broken phone and a deadline seem much one and the same thing to me - apart from the pleasure of hearing your dulcit tones I was wondering what you might be doing on the 12th Nov - but I see you are going to be in Northhampton (2Ns or 1?)
My sister who runs the Orangutan Foundation UK is having a fund raising pub quiz on that day and asked me if I could recommend a whizz quizz master - you sprung to mind like a kangaroo on a pogo stick - 'cause you know how to turn a page or two - but it doesn't look like nov 12th will be in your diary (or anyone elses) as the night you supported a great ape.
Hope to catch you in London soon and why not Paris again - we can have a drink on the rue st sebastien.
may all your arrows be golden

Were you jogging in Crouch End today Robin?

That will seem like a weird question if you weren't...

And if you were, it would be even weirder because I saw you from my window, and it was only from behind.

Which would be REALLY strange because that would mean I can recognise you from the back, which raises all sorts of questions about how you interact with your fans...

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN

Once drove an old sedan, up north,
From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
By train, to look without set plans.

I browsed through the trendy market,
With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.

I dined in a scenic cafe;
Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey,
You go walkabout with your pen.”

Request or question, I don’t know -
Assured voices, elderly men.
That’s now several years ago,
And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Thanks Robin :)

It was a pleasure. The Book Club was a big highlight of the weekend. I know it's a while off yet but I'm going to come to your gig at Utter in Oct. My girlfriend loves the Utter nights so we shall see you there :)

Hope you're well.

Ps re my songs: Don't expect any Nick Cave or Robyn Hitchcock level genius!!! I'm a humble amateur and nothing more...
