Hey Rob. No prob in the least. After all, it was torrential; there were lots of happy people and cake, a big lolling freaky snake and a bevy of baby bats. Lots to avert one's attention. lol. I too had a long tedious ride home. But it was so nice to see and hear you play again. Will catch up with you again soon. Are you planning another guitar extravaganza in the near future?

That's really cool about TbL!

I really enjoy your messages, Robert! Sorry I'm not more prompt about responding: I'm mostly on facebook these days and sometimes forget about myspace.

I'm reading, in no apparent order:
The Brothers Karamazov
Beloved, by Henri Nouwen
The Road to Reality by Roger Penrose
and Life Together by Dietrich Bonhoeffer

When I (if I ever) finish The Brothers K, I want to pick up something easier for a change. Maybe an old childhood favorite.
Any suggestions?
Lauren

If you don't mind me asking, is "Northern Hospitality" in Orkney tuning like Ithaca? I think it is, but I haven't played around enough to figure it out. I'm working on this new tune that's in a d-modal offshoot of Orkney, and I admit I've stolen some soul from that tune. :)

First of all, why is Tom the Myspace guy in your top 8? Second of all I think you should change the name to "eccentric's hoe". It lends a whole new feel to things. You could rename all your songs in a similar vein- Kiss Your Pimp Gladly, Kissing the Oblivious Streetwalker....

That "Northern Hospitality" song is good. At first I was skeptical of it, because the beginning was so simple, but then it got pretty cool. It's neat when you can accomplish or express so much with few words or, in this case, notes.

I like the song a lot! It has that kind of discordant melody that reminds me of Silly Sisters and other female groups. I hadn't heard of The Story. Thanks for sending it!

I like that poem a lot! You should set it to music. I'm going to be playing in public next month for the first time in years. I'm nervous, not about performing which I love, but because I'm not sure I like any of my songs anymore, and I haven't written any new ones in a while. I think I may do mostly covers...

Good to hear from you!

The circumstances, my dear friend, were that I deamed it appropriet to be "that guy who plays guitar" at a party I attended, and there were pictures taken. I enjoyed this particular one, and figured it wouldn't hurt to share it with the world.
