Hey Lorcan, haven't seen you in ages either- I would have called, but I thought you would have too much on (though I did pop into the Rose to see if you were working a few Saturdays back). We should have a film + 8 pack session soon, the last one was pretty funny...

How is the teaching in Lowey? Mark told me about it the other day, hadn't heard before...

Hope all's well,

Joe

“Scottish prodigies Popup are making a huge impact, they’re the best new band we have seen this week and will be one of the hottest bands of 2007”. – NME

Popup are a wee Scottish Indie-Pop band that have played live on BBC TV & Radio and done sessions for XFM and had lots of airplay in Japan, USA and Germany where their debut single "Lucy, What You Trying to Say?" was No3 in the Radio Bremen listeners year end poll, Popup have been written about by many magazines like NME where they were recently "live band of the week" and their friends at Artrocker supported the band with an invite to play their stage at The Great Escape 2007. Popup recently toured Texas and New Orleans, (including SxSW) and they recently performed at London Calling in Amsterdam and did 3 shows for the BritBus tour in NYC, they have such a wonderful range of influences, from jangle-tastic Postcard era Orange Juice through to the indie-tastic saviours of indie-pop The Pastels to balls out blistering riff monsters via Arab Strap and everything in between, but without sounding muddled and contrived.... everything sounds like Popup. We think you will like their songs and you can see and here more at.... www.myspace.com/popuptheband

My dearest Lorcan - you made a friend request which under a beer haze I accepted and then didn't come back to for weeks. How are you? I miss you. When are you coming to Australia? Please send my love to Sara and all other grad bar friends. I drop you little notes every now and then but never hear back - I'm sure you're busy maintaining all your blogs (oh yes, and the phd) but send me some love. I want to hear how your life is going. Fancy a trip to the carribbean in June? XXX, Melissa

Electric Russell's possibly the best pub-based entertainer ever captured in a surrealist sitcom pilot. I like how they're all singing "Nice One Cyril" at the end.

The only cure for H.O.H. is self inflicted blindness, which luckily, does happen with chronic masturbation. They just proved it, but watch out for Graham crackers, because they curb the desire to "harm yourself."

Eh up superboy, Hope your trip back from Belfast was a good one. Glad to have been befriended through cyberspace as well as through conferences. You are who I point people to when I get raised eyebrows for my PhD. I may look at love but Lorc is Superherotastic. Unfortunately your topic is cool, mine is cringeworthy! Foiled again!
Hopefully catch up with you soon. Sophs
