Dear Liz, Morgan, and other Miss Derringer members,

I put off getting a copy of Winter Hill for a while because I figured one couldn't make as good an album as lullabies again and I didn't want to be let down. Well, this was a mistake because that new record is smoking awesome. Dark awesome but good. Hmm... hard to explain. Anyways, the harmonizing stuff you did with vocals on Don't Leave Me Now kicks' Chinese Democracy's ass. Everything else is good too- catchy, upbeat, fun, but also bittersweet, of course.

As the years go by I find myself getting older and feeling over the hill and condemned by this economic status to sweeping the streets at night and plowing the snow. While this happens I often think about the tragic beauty of women who have wronged me in love and little bits of me break and die deep down over and over again.

Yet at the same time I get inspiration from the knowledge that somewhere still even today in California there are happily married couples of artists in love who make beautiful records like this one and are able to perform it around the country. That gives me hope that somewhere out there I'll meet somebody who won't do me wrong or lie or break up with me via text messages.

Thanks again for putting in the effort despite how terrible the music industry can be and how financially dubious such commitments are, to make this record. I hope you keep making music and performing it.
