Daryl,
I was over at Billy Field's on Wednesday & he played me your new album "Aussie Gold Vol. 1". I must most sincerely congratulate upon your sensational album - very creative reconceptions of classic Aussie Rock songs (which I remember when they first came out), great band & playing + your vocals never sounded better. I wish you every success with the album. You certainly deserve every success.
Regards from Rodric ...

daryl, you are dead right. if music is all about connecting with other humans then you need to hear that response. hard to believe that jazz used to be a wild music. beatniks bowed down before charlie parker yelling yes yes yes.
cool is fine as long as it doesn;t turn into cold...

“Wingfield's guitar playing is mysterious, majestic, and blazing” Guitar Player
“almost moved me to tears.” BBC
Iain Ballamy
"playing in a lyrical class of his own"
The Guardian

Reform APRA
Oct 19, 2008 12:50 PM
The basic difference between ASCAP and APRA is simple at the core. The ASCAP contract is non-exclusive where as the APRA contract is exclusive. When you give exclusive control to your copyright upto an NGO governed by a corporate monopolists, strange things happen with your copyright. Strange illusions and explanations about copyright evolve through more NGO's that explain themselves to be councils for the people. The corporations have both sides of the coin by the balls, as they do with all things. The commons is most likely not the solution, yet exclusive control of your copyright, is for sure not the solution. You are tied to a Union that is a lie. APRA is lie and you have fallen for it. Its on par with the fed reserve... get out while you can, ASCAP is only a solution if you have something to collect! ASCAP in the US allow artists to license their art using any creative commons license and remain a member. Australian artists can join/transfer to ASCAP.
Your in breech of your APRA contract with your content on myspace, yet myspace have agread to pay the publishers, yet not you the artist without a publisher, for use of your content... what to do?

Mr Aberhart, although the thought of you in a room where I'm performing petrifies me, I'll continue with my comment...
This Weds should you be free and in the area, drop into The Del for a musical interlude to brighten your evening.
New tunes, a rehearsed quartet and some lovely fashion will prove to be the best choice you make all day.
Who: Holly Clayton & her MERRY Men
Date: 06/02/08
Time: 9pm - 11.40pm
Why: Because EVERYONE needs music.
To those who come and those who don't, much love and have a happy day.
x
Please note, the MERRY Men are made up of:
Stevie Fuller - drums
Adam Miller - guitar
Peter Gray - bass
Holly will possibly be doing a tambourine solo, pending Stevie's 'Yay or Nay' on the topic.

Hey Daryl,
I don't know if you're around town or not, but me and some mates from Melbourne are road tripping down to Newcastle and we've booked in a bit of a jazz jam at the Kent on Sunday afternoon.
If you've got a lazy arvo, it'd be awesome if you want to call in and have a play! Matt Enks is bringing a keyboard.
PS; I've really been loving the CD, I've spread the word around melbourne, you should get the crew down!
