City Smells - the BOOK
Apr 25, 2007 10:34 AM
'City Smells' is a new literary project set up by the Edit Red Writing Community.
We are running three writing competitions, Flash Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction and Poetry, all with the theme 'City Smells. The winners of each of these competitions will win $100. But more than this, we will take the best work from each competition and compile a paperback 'City Smells' anthology. The writers who make it into the 'City Smells' anthology will each receive free copies of the book and be paid a royalty in book sales.
To submit to these competition and stand a chance of being published in the 'City Smells' book you must be a member of Edit Red, as the submission process is automated. Joining Edit Red and entering these competitions is 100% free. If you make it into the book, we will pay royalties based on book sales.
Edit Red has existed for many years and was created and is still managed today by non-fiction author
Alan Emmins
, creative writing teacher
Chris Lee Ramsden
and literary reviewer
Sean Merrigan
.
If you are not already a member, we hope you will join and take part in this great literary event.
Visit editred.com for free membership and free entry.
Regards
Alan, Sean and Chris

To grab the eyes of you and other people on this page.. and (soon to be on) writer's cafe.
suggestion: when you are sharing work, it wouldn't be really nice to just have a check list of all the people you want to send it to instead of individually sending out a share letter to EVERY person on your list..
regardless, WC has been so good for me. I have only been there for 5 months (not even) and I'm ranked in the top 400- it's given me so many great friendships and the feedback is better than anywhere else I've ever received it.

I am inviting all writers here to come add a Kurt Vonnegut memory to my blog. I am so saddened by his death. This is one of those times I am happy to be surrounded by other writers. They understand what a sad day this is.

Kurt Vonnegut Jr. has slipped past us again. Just a moment ago he was here, going on and on about this and that, and now, he simply isn't.
------
If you look very closely at the spot where he was last seen you might see a slender shimmering beam of silver dust shooting away to the sky.
------
I suspect that Kurt will be reconfiguring soon enough. He's bound to have some stories to tell those entertainment starved Tralfamadorians!

::::: Some of my NEW work ::::
What do you think??
Blind:
There are many faces to the world
Of which you remain blind
There are things out there in the darkness
I hope you never find
Lies by the millions,
Heartbreak and deceit,
People who will stab you in the back,
Then act as if it never happened next week.
There are those who will use you,
Make you feel sick,
They'll kick you when you're down
Just to get there fix.
There are those who will steal things,
That are of much value to you.
And I'm not talking money or expansive shoes
There are those who will take everything,
Drain your well dry,
There are those who wouldn't care if you died.
So of the many faces of the world, I hope you remain blind
And walk to walk the path where the sun always shines.

THE FUTURE OF HORROR
Brian M.W.
Apr 3, 2007 10:02 PM
My first novel is finally available for purchase. "Psycho-Gehenna" or "Mind-Hell" is a horrific, mystery, science-fiction thriller. I combined the three genres together in order to come up with a new form of fiction writing. If you are interested in a new literary experience, then you can visit my webpage at: www.myspace.com/brianmwforever and read excerpts from my current novel, and a future one, in my myspace blog.
Or buy the book at:
HARDCOVER http://www.lulu.com/content/769527
PAPERBACK http://www.lulu.com/content/769676
Thank you,
Brian M.W.
There are no Black horror writers who have reached the status of people like Steven King, Dean Koontz, or Clive Barker. I will be the first.
