It was published in issue 77 of your magazine. You were asking about where your readers rode. Enjoy..... California --Puente Hills What up? Greetings from sunny SoCal. You guys asked for the trails your readers ride so I'm gonna tell you about my back yard. Well, not really my back yard, but close enough. I am blessed to live next to the Puente hills. A small range of hills that sticks like a finger into the combined megalopolis of Los Angeles and Orange Counties, it is a sanctuary of sanity; surrounded by humanity. The trails are combinations of fire road, single and double track, mixed with a few renegade psycho jump trails built by those addicted to air. My trails are shared by cyclists, hikers and equestrians. Somehow we all manage to co-exist peacefully. Trail maintenance is mostly done by county crews, but my friends and I occasionally take up the sacred shovel. The views are awesome if you're into cityscapes. Actually kinda scary once you realize these hills are more like islands in a sea or civilization. As you would expect, these hills are heavily scarred by development. They are also utilized by the Puente Hills Landfill, the second largest in the United States, and Rose Hills Memorial Park (a cemetery for you zombies). Even though "no trespassing" signs abound surrounding Rose Hills property (a lot of their property is undeveloped for now), they do turn a blind eye as long as you act responsibly. The best times to ride are during the week while the slaves are at work. The hills are surrounded by the cities of Hacienda Heights, Whittier, La Habra and Rowland Heights, among others. Local bike shops include Hacienda Schwinn, Hacienda Bikes and La Habra Schwinn, among others. Lots of others, but I only know where I go. I know a lot of my fellow riders will be wonderin
