i have been catholic all my life.
last year i was asked to go on a retreat to chicago with some friends who are sufi.

while i was there , the sidi called me to him and gave me a sufi name.
the name he gave me is lateef
my given name is joseph
this happened a couple of days after i attended the yusef lateef concert at the detroit jazz festival.

anyway
after a lifetime of listening to one of the greatest musicians and cultural icons of our generation
and motor city hero
