Ceux qui semblent être des annonciateurs sont en réalité absolument sans aucune importance historique. Pourquoi ? parce que, justement le créateur de génie fait tout autre chose que ce qui était déjà là. C’était déjà là mais seulement sous forme de prémisses. Sinon on pourrait être amener à soutenir que Michel Ange se réduit à la qualité du marbre qui existait avant lui. Picasso a inventé un point de vue totalement différent, bien sûr, de ce que l’on voyait avant lui. Il fait du jamais vu, à savoir du Picasso. Après une visite à une exposition de Picasso, on ne voit plus les choses que comme du Picasso. Ce qui, par un effet rétroactif nous permet de mieux apprécier l’art nègre et beaucoup d’autres choses que l’on ne voyait pas avant. Le véritable créateur de génie est qu’il n’a jamais de précurseurs auxquels il se serait soumis. Ça c’est le rôle de l’art appliqué. L’essence du génie est d’être explicite et ce qui était implicite n’était jamais qu’implicite c’est-à-dire qu’il ne se voyait pas. Les grandes découvertes comme la grande poésie et la grande littérature ne viennent de nulle part. C’est le discours universitaire qui après coup s’efforce de les réduire au passé, voire au présent, dont elles s’étaient affranchies.
