I'm always pleading with people to read "Straight Life;" hands down the best jazz memoir (one of the best autobiographies period). At the time I was reading it I remember appreciating its conversational tone, and I remember thinking that you had to be largely responsible for this (lots of listening, lots of transcribing, lots of editing). Thanks as well for that lovely Art Pepper song "lost life." in deep appreciation, jay
