I drove past Yakima last weekend and thought about you. How are you doing?
How's music going?
When people go through my iPod, they get confused when they see Fresh Cherries From Yakima.
Like I'm some kind of musical prophecy.
Keep on keepin on.

I always call Douglas Martin just to say Hello, or Good Day, sometimes I exchange a one liner or two.
I heard the bees chirping by the old sawmill, they said electricity flows through his veins like a torrent never before witnessed by mankind. In passing they mentioned his name, I believe it was Joe Lally, or something like that. I heard he was going to be holed up at some Olympia joint, Le Voyeur I believe, at 2pm on April 26th with some local smokies, Repeaters and Popcorn Advisor I heard. I say we go down and make sure these bandits don't steal our wives and children and escape to Mexico.

I know, right? Arthur in a freak gardening accident, Mickey spontaneously combusted while performing the drum solo from Zeppelin's "Moby Dick". Hopefully we'll hold onto John, though last night we were practicing in the basement of one of the buildings on campus, and just as we were leaving we noticed one of the bathrooms was fucking on fire.
When're you going to send me those tracks?

That's interesting. I like taking in as much as possible, no matter the source because it widens my scope and comprehension of the world around me. The more I know, and experience, the more I can understand. So that everything I produce (art, or otherwise) will be the most informed and able to reflect back the fullest experience possible.
I think that the results of insular study can be brilliant and vital, but personally I enjoy branching out as much as possible.

Haha, yeah, I was actually surprised myself while compiling it. I still feel lame for not having more metal or country, though I'm trying to work my way from the past to the present in those genres so I'll really understand what I'm listening to.
How are things? Have a good New Year?

I'm pretty much always writing, but lately I've been going into overdrive for my third album. I'm really excited and I really feel like I'm progressing toward a lot of my creative goals.
So that feeling of upward progression is a consistent morale booster.
Ready to start compiling the inevitable AOTY list? It's touuuugh, I'm currently cramming in like a dozen missed albums right now.

...
soooo...
I contemplated suicide a few weeks ago, when my computer decided to wipe out my ENTIRE MUSICAL LIBRARY, for some unknown reason.
BUT!!!
You know what I realized through this tragedy?
There are few things in life better than rediscovering a song you love but somehow forgot about.
Lullabys for a Retired Model....
prime
example. :]
in other words...
thank you for being amazing,
and bringing more-than-momentary moments of giddy joy into my sad, sad life, Douglas Martin. hahaha.

You underestimate the power of Family Tree!
Just the right placement in the right emotional scene in the right flick/Grey's Anatomy episode and mannn...
But yeah, the fact that Grizzly Bear got on Letterman without an album even being out is nuts. Big things are shaking for them.
I don't know if I've said this to you before, but Grizzly Bear is definitely approaching that untouchable plateau that I consider to be inhabited by (the aforementioned) Radiohead and a precious few others.

I'm officially in <3 with it. I'm so excited to see them live. I wonder whose Big Pop Move will pay out more: Grizzly Bear's or TVOTR's.
Two Weeks is so awesome, but man, I listened to Dear Science like ten times today.
