It will be a theatrical enactment of the end of the world using live sound and visual arts. It will be taking place in an archaic cathedral in the heart of Wicker Park. This event was inspired by the soon-ending Mayan calendar, sacred geometry, and other mystic and psychedelic revelations. Silvia PlathypusSarah Lasken	Jul 16, 2008 8:17 PM Dear Poet (that’s you), My name is Sarah, and I am a 10th grade Humanities teacher at an all girl’s school called Young Women’s Leadership Charter School. We are a small community with a passion for social justice. Our students are mostly young women of color. For this reason, our focus this year is the difference between home and business English and the value and use of each (I do not believe that there is truly such a thing as “proper” English). We are looking for Latin American poets who incorporate Spanish language into their poetry. Hispanic American heritage month is coming up soon and we wish to truly celebrate culture, and not just food and folkways. Can you help us? We hope to schedule a poetry writing workshop with poets who are interested in working with our students during the day and then have a poetry reading at our school in which students and local poets perform in the evening. This would likely come up in late September or early October. Finally, I know that we all love committing our time and energy to a good cause. I also know that we all receive sustenance from our own goodness. However, we need to eat once and a while, therefore YWLCS may be able to offer a small stipend. If you are interested holler back.
