Well, I'm currently in Iraq so it makes it pretty hard to stay happy all the time.
However, I like to stay actively engaged, not "busy," just doing things that keep my mind off things that might make me unhappy.

A few examples:
Playing Guitar
Any Sports (ping pong at the rec center is awesome)
I like to take pictures for my friends/family to let them know I'm doing okay.

One thing that always brightens my mood, is picking some completely random ingredients and creating a culinary masterpiece. lol.
(By culinary masterpiece I mean peanut butter muffins)

Hmm... am I happy? Well I can only do my best and try to be. I always have my bad days, but so does everyone else. When I'm not feeling very good about things, I try to step out of my box, and look at my life from someone else's perspective. I DO have a great family, I DO have amazing friends, and I AM overall a good person. I do make mistakes.
I don't really make changes.. because I believe everything has a place, and happens for a reason, but I guess I could say that I made a change to think different about things, and to remind myself that everything is ok, and time will tell. If you are willing to think like this, and go through with it.. I'm pretty sure you will find yourself happier. I took a picture awhile back, and I want you to see it. It pretty much fits with your question :)

I can't say I'm happy, but I have to say that two things that really changed my life, and shaped who I am as a person, across all boards of life are both veganism and straight edge. The committment to two alternative lifestyles really taught me a lot about perserverance, and loyalty to myself, and remaining true to my convictions and beliefs, even if that means looking trends, and acceptance, in the eyes, and saying, Im not going to follow suit for the sake of acceptance, but I'm going to blaze my own trails in life, and find someone along the way as unique and driven as I. If i follow the roads and paths more frequently traveled, I'm going to end up being surrounded by people who are just like one another.

I find that deep bouts of depression are necessary for great happiness... Kinda like the Tao... How would you know happiness if you never experienced unhappiness... To be happy all the time is just a ridiculous concept... I mean really, you think any of the great authors, writers, poets, or artist were happy all the time? No freaking way... It is their highs and lows that connect them to everyone else. To be happy all the time would be like walking around brainless, and I for one, like using my brain to learn from painful experiences.

I am not happy now, and hope I never am.

Well i used to always think negative, but then one day i was like i should just think positive to see what would happen and Ive been through a lot thinking positive, and i just started being really mellow, and thinking differently and started thinking more about spending time with family, because i would go out and drink and never answer calls from my mom and brother and sister, which made me feel really bad so stopped doing that, and now just living and looking forward to every day to see what would happen or just say a little adventure ha ha. Dave
