It's true! An Arrested Development movie will happen.

Reliable inside sources confirm to me that producers Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard have signed deals to do an Arrested movie with Imagine and Fox Searchlight.

Sources tell me exclusively that the major motion picture is budgeted at $15 million. (Translation: It will be awesome.)

"Yes, it's a go," an Arrested castmember who asked not to be named tells me. "We're all very excited. And it will happen with or without the holdout."

Wait a minute...The holdout? Yes, I'm also told exclusively by multiple sources that one of the show's original castmembers has not signed on to the movie...

"Yeah, [he or she] might not do it," an actor says of this costar. "However, I do know that we will do the project with or without [him or her]."

Guesses?

The good news is that aside from this actor (who, sorry, cannot be named), I'm told that all of the other main castmembers have committed to be a part of the big-screen project. And, yes, the show will go on.

So just to make sure it sinks in here: Arrested Development is coming back. For real. On the big screen. As a major motion picture.

Doesn't that make you fans so happy you just want to hug your "anal-rapist"? (Meaning Tobias Fünke, aka David Cross, aka the show's resident analyst/therapist, naturally.)

And we could use a little good news on a day like today, right?

hi kyle. just saw your bulletin and was curious so i listened to a little of your music--pretty impressive stuff! had no idea you were a musician. wish i was as artistically inclined. also saw you recently became a vegetarian. i in fact just ate a delicious portobello burger, as I decided to give up meat for good a couple of weeks ago. we'll have to trade recipes. :) sounds like your life is good with alaura, the music and the no meat. good to hear. see you around.

Dearest Fëanor,
I write you this time from the sandy beaches of New Otherton. Ben has been pressuring me to take part in going to the lotus to prepare for bringing John Locke back to the island. It seems as if he has been infected with a clairvoyant disease during his trip to see Walt and inform him as to why he must come back to the island. Nevertheless, I stay ever vigilant and devoted to the island. Please send some Dharma Initiative ranch and crackers. It seems as if the one they call "Hurley" devoured them all in his gargantuan feast.
Always a bud,

Dearest Olaf, I write you from the icy beaches of Norway, the tundra has yet to break as Ehlo's voice fades in the crackling of the dwindling camp fire. I pray that the Norse will come to our desperate aid as the Paegan's begin to approach our perimeter. Hold fast to these words Olaf, and send your prayers as help to Ehlo and myself in this dire situation.

Mr. Tryggvason, It pleases me to inform you that Irish presidential hopeful Barrack O'bama would like you to be in his cabinet when he is elected. First and foremost he would like you to be his secretary of THE METAL! He hopes that your black metal shroud will fall in acceptance of his white metal crown of thorns. Please let us know your thoughts on this position.

Kyle, I received the backpack today and I just wanted to thank you for giving me the chance to spit and scream vocals for blessthefall. A few questions though.
1.) What do I do with the bottle of motion sickness pills you packed me.
2.) Do I have to perform in the speedo you packed me by itself or underneath my clothing.
3.) How do you know of my godfather Eloh who is currently roaming the Western-European coastline?
Thanx again for everything Kyle, and I will see you Tuesday at the airport!

OMG OMG OMG!!!

read this!!!!

This just might be the best news we Arrested fans have heard in a very long time.

Jason Bateman has just confirmed to me that the creative minds behind Arrested Development (Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard) have put the wheels in motion toward a major motion picture of the Fox TV comedy so many of us adore. I'm told by insiders that Jason and other Bluth family members have received calls from producers (Hurwitz and Howard) asking if they would be willing to shoot a movie.

"I can confirm that a round of sniffing has started," Bateman says. "Any talk is targeting a poststrike situation, of course. I think, as always, that it's a question of whether the people with the money are willing to give our leader, Mitch Hurwitz, what he deserves for his participation. And I can speak for the cast when I say our fingers are crossed."

Jeffrey Tambor also revealed on XM Radio's the Ron and Fez Show that he has been approached by Ron Howard to see if he's willing to do an Arrested film. (You can hear that interview below.)

For the record, both Jason and Jeffrey's answers were: Hells yeah. And I hear from other sources that other castmembers were called and that everyone seems to be very much on board and excited by the prospect.

Insiders also tell me that while creator Mitch Hurwitz does not yet have a script, he has a good, solid understanding of what he'd like to do for the movie, and Universal is very much interested.

And so it seems that a few good—wait, no, outrageously amazing—things just might come out of this unfortunate writers' strike, as the creative minds in this town have had time to pause, regroup and think about their dream projects.

And an Arrested movie is a pretty great dream, is it not?
