*"Soul on Ice” - Understanding the value and depth of Black Culture
This is a show of Black Culture which includes the largest number of Minnesota Black Artists. We exist in quantity and are living and working here in the state of Minnesota, this show will prove it!
When:February 23rd – March 24th, 2008
Where:Soap Factory
518 2nd Street SE, Minneapolis, MN
www.soapfactory.org
This show is sponsored by the artist collective called T.A.W.U., (the artist within us), an artist support group sponsored by Obsidian Arts, will curate this phenomenal group exhibition.
The title is inspired from the renowned author and activist, Eldridge Cleaver. His book, entitled “Soul on Ice”, reflects on the turbulent times of the civil rights movement, an era of revolution and change. He made important strides in building a culture consciousness that is still very active in our lives today.
The challenge that 50 artist will face is to create their interpretation and understanding of the enormous value and great depth of Black Culture.
