I think we should have a casino here in the city--it will create jobs, give extra revenue for the city and attract more tourists. Also, I think the TTC should consider doing fundraisers instead of hiking the price of the TTC. Have a glamorous fashion show like the AIDS group does or have a concert with famous bands, show it on TV and get donations. Maybe the city can use these ideas as well. There are solutions out there!!

Hey Mayor Miller,
I just spent a weekend in New York City, on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, in the heart of Manhattan, seeing the whole city from the Lower East Side to Times Square, Central Park and the Upper West/East sides.
You know the first thing I realized when I got back to Toronto? NOT ONCE did I get hassled for money by a panhandler on the streets of NYC.
In T.O., it's two-three times a day minimum I get accosted for money.
ENOUGH OF THE PANHANDLERS !! Believe me, I feel for the homeless, but something has to be done. NO ONE should be subjected to being accosted on the streets for money every day.
Time to do something, sir. Thanks.

There's an ad for that Neil Young Concert at Massey Hall in '71 in Rolling Stone Magazine. Gotta admit, that's a nice little promo for music culture in the city.

Mayor Miller, we, at Barons and Lengthy, are a little disturbed that you haven't been more vocal in the fight against styrofoam in cities. We need to pick up the charge led by such cities as San Francisco and BAN this product.

I tried to see about calling you last night on Citytv, but couldn't get through. I would like to know what is going to be done about violence going on in the neighbourhoods. I live in subsidized housing right now and there seems to be problems with some of the tenants. There is no superintendent or cameras in the building which I feel there should be. I have let the housing people know about it as I am concerned for my safety and others in the building. I was already threatened by one of my neighbours when they were drunk! Also, I would like to know what can be done about older people getting work. There is alot being done for the youth of our city, but not much being done for older people who are in need of work. I am finding it more difficult in retaining employment as you get older!

Premier Dalton McGuinty gives David Miller his re-election for Toronto congratulations with big surprise by David Voisine GO TO
Not even a day has gone by before Dalton McGuinty has made it known to Mayor David Miller of Toronto that the province of Ontario will not be giving him a portion of the provincial tax revenue.
After winning his second term in the civic election David Miller vowed to fight for one percent of either the provincial sales tax or the federal GST.
As David Miller put it "We will not take no for an answer," with cheers from the crowd that looked on.
The province will however be giving the city the power to raise money by taxing the sale of alcohol and tobacco under the City of Toronto Act.
Dalton McGuinty told David Miller to try and knock on the door of the federal government which has a surplus.
Oh how wonderful as David will be taxing your Miller Time. And should you want to light up in your own home just think how he is taking control of your personal space. Oh yes he wants to decrease taxes for small businesses but with these tax increases what will be left of them or us for that matter. Boy the snow is piling up and not one inch of it to be seen on the ground. Does anybody have a shovel to clear it all away? Oh I know we need to contact Prime Minister Stephen Harper who I am sure will be shoveling that one percent GST idea right up David Miller's lol!!!

Re-elected David Miller promises! Will you be able to swim or will he sink? by David Voisine GO TO
Oh yes congratulations go out to David Miller and in his fine speech as he offers one promise that has me chuckling after a little graphic handiwork of mine.
He promises that we all will be able to swim in Lake Ontario after he cleans it all up. I beg to differ, as I do have my own opinion to offer up.
Have you ever been to Canada Day at Nathan Phillips Square where after all of the performances have ended people on this usually hot day like to dip their feet in the holy waters of Miller's little fountain of youth there. Only to have security come by and offer the good citizens a bi-law prohibiting anyone from walking in the water there. As I was told by security at the time the water is too dirty because the homeless like to wash themselves in it. Or is it because they never replace or filter it as a matter of fact!
Now for David Miller who has promised us in the past that he would clean up City Hall he sure has defaulted on this so far. Here he is again stating that he now is going to clean the waterfront so that you and I can jump on in for a dip. Like does anyone know why I would be just a little concerned with this statement?
Does it really matter? Not really as we have been flooded with promises one Miller Time after another to the point that when we do go to City Hall we make sure not to get too close so that we do not find ourselves sinking from the sheer weight of them while he floats above for the time being!
See my graphic handiwork by surfing the url below... lol!!!

The only candidate for Mayor to respond Mitch Gold for Toronto by David Voisine GO TO
Inviting a whole host of the candidates to come and join my online forum. Quite frankly I wouldn't of thought that anybody would of. But Mitch Gold was up to the task. He surprised me when he sent me a reply as to the piece I wrote regarding the disability issues that have been left out for the most part in this Toronto election unless you count the discussions about the low riding Street Cars that could come by us in say 2018.
I have to agree with him that I do not like the term disabled either but unfortunately the Ontario Government throws it in with the term ODSP.
What would we have if we used physically challenged but the truth. Do you ever hear the government spew out the latter?
I must admit that Mitch is quite correct in his statement that most of those running for Mayor of Toronto are mentally challenged as others did not take the time to reply to emails I had sent them. Not even one single email from their campaign teams.
When posting to the David Miller and Stephen Ledrew blogs comments were quickly deleted no matter the person trying to voice their concerns. How nice of their campaign teams. Do you wonder why?
Jane Pitfield although she did not have a blog that one could make a comment not once did she or her campaign team make an effort to connect with myself but I sure gave it a try.
Let's be honest the kind of Mayor we want in Toronto is one that can take the time out for those of us with real issues of concern regarding how we the people of Toronto are being treated.
I don't know Mitch Gold personally but just maybe Toronto should get to know him. And I am sure in the future we will be seeing more of him. He has my vote! Yes Mitch Go for Gold!!! Now people get out there and VOTE!!!
Greetings David:
Yes it is true I have not addressed the term disabled. I do not like the word. (or homelessness either)
I think physically - or mentally - or emotionally, or spiritually challenged is a better way to refer to the condition.
And as for challenged, I say most of the characters involved in the Mayor race are mentally challenged. they do not have the "right" thinking modalities.
our society is challenged. perhaps you are not. Perhaps you are physically challenged and that is it.
It seems so when I read your note.
when we elect people that are not mentally challenged, the physically challenged will not have the problems you describe.
This is what I think. and why I have left the term out of my campaign - and my processes.
Peace to you and yours, and may we have a Mayor that understands that your needs too ought to be looked after in our wealthy society.
Unfortunately most consider ourselves to be poor - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Me? I am not so encumbered.
Mitch Gold

Disabled left out of the Toronto Election. Vote for Mayor of Toronto?
Why are the disabled being left out of this race?
by David Voisine GO TO
With only a couple of days left why is it that the front runners or for the most part anyone telling us what they would do for the disabled. Like always they sideline this issue because quite frankly they are not disabled themselves or surely they would not win in this election, or would they? Well there hasn't been a disabled person elected for mayor in Toronto in the history of the city that I know of.
The media as well as the candidates are so fixated on issues like the Gardner Expressway, The Water Front, Toronto's Garbage, and the like but why are they not telling the people that they will be advocating for more wheelchair accessibility in the city? Reduced TTC fares for those on ODSP?
Oh I know that there are in the works more low riding buses that will come to us in the future like in maybe our lifetime.
It seems the politicians in Toronto are asleep as other cities offer people on ODSP reduced rates to travel example (Durham Region) and their 6 month pilot project where you pay $25 dollars for a bus pass.
Or is Toronto just only a city for the enabled?
Enable yourself come November 13 and vote for someone who will look out for those who are disabled. Who will respect the rights of the disabled. Yes it is time for a change where those on disability are offered more than just a clean city but one that does not discriminate against those who are disabled.
Riding the TTC in Toronto is a major feat for those who are disabled. Many times when getting on the bus we find that we are not given enough time to sit down before the bus takes off leaving us to hold on tight that is if we can. Or for that matter when our stop comes and we want to get off we find the bus driver passing our stop because we were not able to move fast enough towards the doors. At times we can't even get a seat on the bus or subway and not one person will give us a seat although on the buses there is suppose to be seating for those of us who are disabled.
A bus pass for those on ODSP would allow the bus driver to know that we are disabled and therefore require assistance when traveling on their bus. It would allow those who are disabled to show other riders this pass so that a seat could be made available for them.
Toronto's crime rate has left those of us who are disabled a fear that it is not safe enough for us to go out. We feel vulnerable as most cannot defend themselves leaving us to wonder whether or not we should take a chance to travel around the city at all.
What has been set into place to make us feel safe once more in the city of Toronto? How can we feel safe when real issues and real concerns for those of us who are disabled are not even being considered.
Reducing, reusing and recycling is a great idea to reduce the garbage that must be trucked to a landfill. That is if you are a person who does not have a disability. What can the city do for those who are disabled should they not be able to accomplish this?
I believe there needs to be a plan established where those who are disabled and cannot recycle their trash that someone does this for them. I would appoint a committee to head up a task force to create a department in the city where they will hire a recycling crew that goes out to the homes and apartments and condos of those who are disabled on a regular basis to help in the recycling process in those homes. This would further reduce the amount of garbage that is being sent out.
You read allot what the candidates over the years for the top spot of Mayor of Toronto will do for you. How much is ever really accomplished? Isn't it about time someone listened to what the disabled are trying to say to them. Are the disabled not intelligent enough to have their own voice heard?
Come November 13 honestly vote for someone who will offer the disabled a voice. One who will implement strategies that will bring about the respect that we deserve. Being disabled is not a crime against humanity, it is a crime to treat the disabled inhumanely.
I am a disabled person who will always call Toronto home. It is my hope for the future of all those like myself who travel around Toronto that we as citizens are given opportunities that will allow us to feel enabled.
Too often we are left out of the political electoral process. Many of those of us who are disabled cannot go out to vote and therefore our voice is never heard.
I propose online voting for those who are on ODSP so that they too can participate in the electoral process and once more feel that they are a part of the community where they live. It would be quite easy for the City of Toronto to have a website created for online electronic voting where each person being disabled could get registered and have their IP addresses logged so that they could place their vote. Is that asking too much?
It is about time Toronto get with it when it comes to the future and futuristic ideas. Toronto is not just for those who each and every day work and make a living it is also a place for those of us who are disabled and cannot work to have our rights protected.
Vote November 13, 2006 for the future of Toronto! Let's move forward for those who might not be able to move at all. Let's enable Toronto!

David Miller or Megacity Toronto and it's future? Do you really want to re-elect him as Mayor of Toronto? by GO TO
http://megacitytoronto.blogspot.com
It seems to me there is something going on in the house when people vote for someone who for one thing was never born in the house in the first place. Like don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong I suppose that David Miller is an American first and foremost having been born in San Francisco, California. But how can he feel the heart beat of this city if his first
breath was never taken here? Not even in Canada you say!
I suppose one could say that this doesn't really matter. But it sure seems that since electing this American as the Mayor of Toronto in the first place the gun crime rate has shot up just like it is in the United States.
Is it just coincidence? Might be might not, but you have your own mind don't you? I guess the new rash of drive-by shootings has me wondering. Considering this kind of crime was virtually unheard of in Toronto before he was elected.
So let us look at David Miller and his political losses shall we? And then we will highlight and open your eyes some more!
He first campaigned for Toronto city council in 1991 and lost to incumbent councillor Derwyn Shea
He than ran for Parkdale High Park in the 1993 federal election under the NDP and lost again to Liberal incumbent Jesse Flis.
Again he campaigned for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 1996 for the NDP and lost to Liberal Party candidate Gerard Kennedy
He sought in 2000 the election for chair of the TTC and lost to Brian Ashton.
With a track record like this one I wonder how he ever got elected as Mayor of Toronto in the first place. Oh we know that in 2003 he continually used his opposition for a bridge to the Island Airport in order to gain media attention and subsequently be voted in. As he had a vendetta against the former Mayor Mel Lastman who wanted to see it built!
David Miller opposed the amalgamation to Megacity Toronto by Mike Harris.
But we have it don't we!
David Miller opposed the plan to ship Toronto's garbage to the Adams Mine.
But he sure is willing to ship it to London, Ontario.
David Miller opposed the building of a bridge to the Toronto Island Airport because of his plan to revitalize the waterfront.
But he sure failed the bid as he did not make the deadline of November 3rd for the World Expo 2015 that would of allowed for the revitalization of this waterfront.
As Mel Lastman put it back when "You will never be mayor of this city because you say stupid and dumb things!" in regards to David Miller
But for the most part the people did not listen in 2003 to what Megacity Mel was saying. He was just trying to warn you of a future with David Miller at the helm.
What does it take for us to realize that Mel Lastman was right? Do we need to see more of our citizens dead on the streets because of the continued increase in gun violence. Because David Miller did not initially increase the police presence in time. Looking at only his bottom line. Only hiring more officers as the death toll got out of hand. Now the death toll continues!
How many more opportunities will the city of Toronto lose and how many more can we afford. How many more lies!
"I will be a tireless promoter of Toronto's bid for Expo 2015.
I want Toronto to experience this. So, to further strengthen the waterfront, and the economy I want Toronto to host Expo 2015. This will generate $ 8.1 billion in economic impact, create 143,000 jobs in Toronto, and attract nearly 40 million visitors." David Miller Election speech September 29, 2006
When you vote November 13th. Vote for none of what is above. Vote for someone who will bring Megacity Toronto into the future. For someone who wants Megacity Toronto. And not the "amalgamated Toronto" term that David
Miller so uses.
Let's really take out the trash and recycle!
Vote for Megacity Toronto!
David
