February 29, 1940, Olympia, Washington) were two high school students waiting for Christopher's mother to pick them up after school. They started singing and humming a song together, and liked it enough to ask Christopher's friend and singing partner, Barbara Ellis (b. February 20, 1940, Olympia, Washington), to join them as a trio to perform it. The Fleetwoods were a singing trio from Olympia, Washington, USA; formed in the late 1950s. The Fleetwoods' version of "Come Softly To Me" can be heard on a portable radio at one point in the 1986 movie, Stand By Me, which was set in Washington state. Mr. IvesDerek Ives	Aug 20, 2006 10:07 PM Thank you for adding me to your group(s). I do indeed carry the tourch for moral values, and high standards. HAHA! I am often told I should have been born 60-70 years ago. And The Fleetwoods are my favorite group, right next to the Diamonds. This is a little bit of a sad thought, but when I pass away I have already choosen to have "Come Softly" played at my funeral. It is my favorite song, even brings a little tear to my eye hear it, haha.
