now available for pre-order thru paypal ($5 plus S/H)...j. michael niotta's chapbook, "the devil's doin the same damn thing he's always done.'
noir, bars, women & cars - from vegas to dago, the brothels of germany to doha, kuwait: a wild & gritty collection of 17 cuts: pomes & prose, plus 3 excerpts from the novel, ‘the ants, thirsty,’ all from the former editor/columnist of 86…the man who put "hard fic" on the streets…the hardcore referee/translator/negotiator you’d hire when sitting bookended in a bar between nick tosches & chuck palahniuk.
"look, the stuff is good. quite good. straight up - like a good half-glass of whiskey."
—dan fante, author of ‘mooch,’ ‘spitting off tall buildings,’ ‘kissed by a fat waitress,’ & ‘a gin pissing raw meat dual carburetor v-8 son of a bitch from los angeles.’

New Fifty Foot Hose CD!
http://anthologyrecordings.com/release.asp?album=FOgIMVzZlkK
Recorded: live on March 16, 2003 at the Beta Lounge in San Francisco
In 1967, San Francisco’s Fifty Foot Hose were certainly one of the innovators of a sound that took Psychedelia to new heights and was captured on the band’s one record, Cauldron. They are a totally unique hybrid—on one hand pulsating bay area acid rock, on the other, fractured electronic freakery, becoming one whole cohesive being. The sci-fi-ish video game-like artwork hinted at the sounds within, as did the Limelight label’s pedigree for truly progressive sounds. Band leader, Cork Marcheschi, used homemade electronic devices to create crude and experimental soundscapes and instrumental compositions that were sprinkled throughout the album.
Often starting shows with a swelling rumble that exploded into the first song, they soon developed a rabid following on the SF scene, though there was the occasional totally wrong gig, like when a very-pregnant Nancy had to perform at a Catholic Girls’ school! Still, the group wowed the crowds, performing with greats like Chuck Berry and Fairport Convention.

Anthology celebrating works by women gone wrong is seeking submissions of art, poetry, short fiction, essays, irreverent criticism, etc. Blistering B-Girl Confessions will have an academic edge as editors examine growing movement of female art soldiers creating on their own terms. Think Lydia Lunch, Ai, Lynda Barry.
Lurid, lascivious and brutally naked submissions should be sent as an attachment to RADaxis7@aol.com.
Feel free to contact me with questions.

Thanks so much for adding me. I love that here in N. Cal we still have so many indie bookstores -- the heart of our literary scene. It's great to connect with other people who love books and know that fiction is as important to "real life" as, well, real life.

Raise your glass, it's the birthday of Jack Kerouac!
His 30 essentials of spontaneous prose:
1.
Scribbled secret notebooks, and wild typewritten pages, for yr own joy
2.
Submissive to everything, open, listening
3.
Try never get drunk outside yr own house
4.
Be in love with yr life
5.
Something that you feel will find its own form
6.
Be crazy dumbsaint of the mind
7.
Blow as deep as you want to blow
8.
Write what you want bottomless from bottom of the mind
9.
The unspeakable visions of the individual
10.
No time for poetry but exactly what is
11.
Visionary tics shivering in the chest
12.
In tranced fixation dreaming upon object before you
13.
Remove literary, grammatical and syntactical inhibition
14.
Like Proust be an old teahead of time
15.
Telling the true story of the world in interior monolog
16.
The jewel center of interest is the eye within the eye
17.
Write in recollection and amazement for yourself
18.
Work from pithy middle eye out, swimming in language sea
19.
Accept loss forever
20.
Believe in the holy contour of life
21.
Struggle to sketch the flow that already exists intact in mind
22.
Don't think of words when you stop but to see picture better
23.
Keep track of every day the date emblazoned in yr morning
24.
No fear or shame in the dignity of yr experience, language & knowledge
25.
Write for the world to read and see yr exact pictures of it
26.
Bookmovie is the movie in words, the visual American form
27.
In praise of Character in the Bleak inhuman Loneliness
28.
Composing wild, undisciplined, pure, coming in from under, crazier the better
29.
You're a Genius all the time
