Slosh	Apr 16, 2007 5:51 PM I missed most of the Jackie Robinson hoopla, but I heard Frank Robinson on NPR last week, and he attributed the decrease in African-American players to a lack of interest among MLB scouts in recruiting from American inner cities. He argued that interest in the game among young African-Americans is not declining, but that scouts are ignoring them as teams clamor for players from Latin America. He didn't seem to imply that teams have racist motivations for not sending scouts to look at African-American players, more that it was kind of a fad to chase the Latin American prospects. In any case, it seems to go against the most common explanation for the decline of African-American players. Your thoughts?
