The Patriots spying "scandal" is a tempest in a teapot compared to the F1 scandal with McLaren - caught red-handed with Ferrari's technical documents.
And whatever happens to the Pats will be a slap on the wrist compared to McLaren's $100 million fine.

I totally enjoyed your AFC preview on Salon.com today! If the Raiders were a Marx brother they would be Gummo. That's the nail on the head. Even Gummo admitted he wasn't funny. That's the best laugh I've had in a long time. can't wait for the NFC and da' Bears. Keep up the good work!

I love your column. It's been my standard for sports writing for some time. I haven't read it in two weeks. Why? NO HOCKEY! Perhaps if i washed your car for you, you'd watch a coupla games or something.

I missed most of the Jackie Robinson hoopla, but I heard Frank Robinson on NPR last week, and he attributed the decrease in African-American players to a lack of interest among MLB scouts in recruiting from American inner cities. He argued that interest in the game among young African-Americans is not declining, but that scouts are ignoring them as teams clamor for players from Latin America. He didn't seem to imply that teams have racist motivations for not sending scouts to look at African-American players, more that it was kind of a fad to chase the Latin American prospects.
In any case, it seems to go against the most common explanation for the decline of African-American players. Your thoughts?

what is this baseball malarkey? Isn't it time for college spring football? What with all the non-scrimmages and red 'try not to hit this guy, he's got legs like grossman' jerseys?
Go go all yee cougars, wildcats, kits, and assorted sundry felines of the gridiron.

King,
Congratulations on five years of thoughtful sports writing. Your column is so good I read it year-round (not just during baseball season.)
Keep on keepin' on!

Gilles de Navacelle?! Never trust a French aristocrat who lives in Lincoln Park. Lake Shore Drive traffic is terrible whenever there's an event in Soldier Field or Grant Park. The Olympics would make it so much worse. *Shudders*

PS Please don't skip any more days, I get cranky when I don't have your column to read in the morning while I should be studying
